Saltburn Rotary Club

Saltburn Rotary Club Contact us via Facebook, through our website or by email to [email protected] It is however, not all work and no play. So where are we?

Saltburn-by-the-Sea Rotary fundraises for many different charities, and invites new members to join us, either as individuals or through our business membership option. Based in the lively, vibrant seaside resort of Saltburn by the Sea, the Rotary Club is an important part of the town. Founded in 1926, the Club is an established fixture of the community and is involved in many projects throughout

the town. Rotary Club members not only embark on fundraising enterprises but give their time to enhance community projects and ensure as many opportunities as possible to the people of Saltburn. With an active social section there are lots of opportunities to socialise and meet new people. Saltburn nestles between the North Yorks Moors to the south and the shopping centre of Middlesbrough to the north. The surrounding rural villages offer the visitor a quiet and relaxing day out, in tranquil surroundings. The area has a wealth of historical interest, charm and character enhanced by many local attractions and events.

A huge thank you to the team at Redcar & Cleveland Council for restoring and reinstating the Saltburn Rotary Club Town Clock.
The clock was commissioned to mark the Silver Jubilee of the Rotary Club of Saltburn in 1951 when a fund was created to provide a Public Clock in the town centre.
It was a long term project with the building completed by a local builder and former member of the club. The four clock faces were each driven by four separate Smiths electric clock motors supplied and fitted by a club member.
The structure was eventually completed and handed over to the then local authority being Saltburn Marske & New Marske Urban District Council by Saltburn Rotary President Alec Doig in 1958.
During the early days the clock was adjusted for BST to GMT by Rotary members. The Clock has undergone numerous repairs and upgrades over the last 50 years as ownership passed through Teesside, Langbaurgh and Redcar & Cleveland authorities who now have the responsibility for maintaining the structure.
The current restoration by R&C comes in this our centenary year. (1926-2026)
The clock also appears on our celebratory centenary mosaic on Sainsbury's wall, Station Square, Saltburn.

What a lovely morning meeting Saltburn Primary's Rotakids and Elspeth from Saltburn Rotary Club. To meet the amazing children that have fundraised on our behalf and to hear the fun activities that they organised to raise these funds was fantastic. To Miss Wears and the staff at Saltburn Primary, and to the parents of the Rotakids - you should be very proud of these young citizens!!
Vikki and Marie were blown away by you all 💚
