Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first AGM under our new name, St Barnabas Charity for Community Healthcare. It was a great opportunity to reflect on the past year and share our plans for the future.
Here is a summary of the update from our Chair, Matthew Lindeyer:
Over the past year, trustees have continued working closely with local partners to champion improvements in local healthcare provision, including support for the pilot phlebotomy (blood test) service planned for St Barnabas.
Our charity is focusing on two major projects in the coming year:
✅ Facilities at St Barnabas
Work has already been completed to create a treatment space at St Barnabas, ready for the pilot phlebotomy service. The next stage is refurbishment of the adjoining day room, creating a flexible space that could support local GP services or provide additional community healthcare facilities.
✅ The SHADO Centre
We have been offered the opportunity to take on ownership and management of the SHADO Centre as the charity that established it prepares to close after nearly 40 years of service to the community. Our intention is to continue supporting the groups that use the centre while developing it as a hub for wellbeing, community activity and preventative healthcare.
As these plans move forward, we will be looking for volunteers to help with decorating, improvements and ongoing support. We would also love to hear your ideas for future groups or activities that promote health and wellbeing in our community.
Together, we are working to keep healthcare and wellbeing at the heart of our community.
