Saltash Community Shed

From ambitious to... slightly less ambitious. 😅

After Phil's- fabrication project, our latest build is a bit more modest: one bird box.

In our defence — it's not just any bird box. We used our new laser engraver and a set of plans modified to meet RSPB specifications, so any resident blue t**s get the officially-approved des-res, not just four bits of ply and a prayer.

Turns out the Shed does big and small equally well. One week it's a piece 4 x 2 that could survive a small apocalypse, the next it's precision-engineered avian real estate. That's the beauty of a place with the tools and the people to do both.

Fancy having a go yourself — big project or small? Come and see us. 🐦🛠️

Saltash Community Shed is growing — and we want you in it.

Take a look at what our member Phil's been building. This isn't a bird box or a bit of tinkering — it's a proper, ambitious fabrication project, built from scratch in our workshop using tools and skills most people don't get the chance to learn anywhere else.

That's what the Shed is about. Whether you're into woodwork, woodturning, laser engraving or 3D printing, or you've got a half-finished idea sitting in your garage that needs the right tools and a bit of company to finish it — there's space for you here.

We're not just a workshop. We're a community of people who make things, help each other, and have a laugh doing it. New members welcome, all skill levels, no experience needed.

Come and see what you could be building next. 🛠️

We are mirroring the following news with The Core:

🌟 Incredible news for Saltash! 🌟

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Saltash Community Shed and The Core have been awarded a minimum £86,000 grant to create The Appleby Westward Energy Garden — right here at The Core on Church Road!

This amazing gift, made possible through the generosity of the Appleby Westward legacy, will bring a 30kW solar array and battery storage system to the heart of our community — cutting energy costs, reducing our carbon footprint, and helping both organisations do even more for the people of Saltash for years to come.

What does this mean for you?

☀️ Cleaner energy powering your community spaces
💰 Savings reinvested into the programmes and activities you love
🔧 Expanded Shed facilities — Extended workshops for our members and the wider community
🔋 Greater resilience — keeping the lights on when it matters most
🌱 A greener Saltash — leading by example on renewable energy

This is a landmark moment for both organisations, and we couldn't be more excited about what it means for our town. Watch this space as The Appleby Westward Energy Garden takes shape — we'll be sharing updates every step of the way!

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported Saltash Community Shed and The Core. It's your community — and this is your win. 💚

We’re excited to be teaming up with The Core and Saltash Baptist Church to create **3D printed poppies for Remembrance** 🌺

It’s a brilliant community project, and there’s more to come on that later in the year…

But here’s the thing — projects like this don’t happen on their own. We seek like minded individuals and those seeking some new challenges and friends.

If you’ve ever thought *“I’d love to make something useful”* or *“I’ve got an idea but don’t know where to start”* — this is your invitation.

At the Shed, we’ve got the tools, skills, and a friendly group ready to help turn ideas into real, finished projects.

🔧 Woodworking, woodturning , 3D printing and Laser cutting engraving — or just a good bit of problem-solving
☕ A relaxed, welcoming space
💡 And plenty of experience to share

Come along, get involved, and be part of something that gives back to the community.

👉 Interested? Drop us a message or pop in for a chat — you’ll be very welcome.
