🚨 New publication alert! 🚨

In addition to our recent evaluation of The Visible Difference Parenting Toolkit, our study exploring users’ experiences of the toolkit has now also been published. The toolkit is a self-guided e-book to improve the wellbeing of parents and carers of children with visible differences.

The analysis indicated that the toolkit filled an existing gap in support provision and helped parents reflect on their values, experiences, and parenting behaviours, while equipping them to better support their child. It was also a helpful tool when working with others, and parents felt it helped them navigate their caregiving responsibilities and prepare their child to self-manage their condition.

Working to prevent burn and scald injuries to children, as well as rehabilitation support to burn injured children and direct support to their families.

🕯How to Candle Safely....

• Keep flames away from children, pets, costumes, hair and decorations.
• Place candles and lamps in a stable, fire-retardant holder, well away from fabric.
• Keep matches and lighters out of children’s reach.
• Never leave a flame unattended, and don’t move it while lit or hot.
• Use a snuffer or spoon to put candles out.

These tips apply to incense sticks and burners, too.

Sparklers can burn as hot as a welding torch causing serious injuries.

▪️Wear gloves
▪️Light one at a time
▪️Hold it at arm’s length
▪️Never give sparklers to children under 5
▪️Don’t carry a child while holding a sparkler
▪️When it’s finished, place it in a bucket of water to cool.
