Something was telling us it might be breakfast time this morning...

Kitten cuteness overload... but hungry tummies! 🐱

Our little ones at Cat Watch Rescue Shelter are eating us out of house and home and we desperately need:

👉 Kitten food (wet & dry)
👉 Mother & Baby food (wet & dry)

These 5 are just a few of the many mouths we are currently feeding. If you can donate a bag or a few pouches, we'd be so appreciative.

Donations can be dropped at our donation points in Andover pets at home, Amesbury Tesco or via our Amazon wishlist.

Thank you from all of us (especially these guys!) ❤️

🐾 Zippy & Zappy (Bonded Pair) 🐾

Zippy and Zappy are two exceptionally bonded kittens seeking a loving, permanent home together. Their connection is remarkable, they play side‑by‑side, sleep curled into each other, and offer comfort and confidence through their gentle companionship.

🐱 About Zippy

Zippy is a bright, affectionate boy with a soft nature and a love for human interaction. He enjoys gentle play, cosy naps, and will happily settle into your lap for cuddles. His temperament is calm, sweet, and wonderfully people‑focused.

🐱 About Zappy

Zappy is equally loving, playful, and cuddly. He thrives on companionship, both feline and human and mirrors Zippy’s affectionate personality. He is confident, friendly, and always ready for fun or a snuggle. Zappy adores his unrelated big brother and cuddles and reaches for him to help his own confidence. He follows everything Zippy in everything.

💛 Their Bond

These boys are inseparable. They rely on each other emotionally and socially, and separating them would cause distress. They must be adopted as a pair to ensure their continued wellbeing and happiness.

🏡 Ideal Home

Zippy and Zappy would suit a home looking for two affectionate, gentle, and fun‑loving kittens. They enjoy human company, so a household where someone is around regularly would be ideal. They are well‑socialised, cuddly, and ready to settle into a safe, loving environment.

✔️ Adoption Status

Age: Kittens

S*x: Male (pair)

💔 Meet Tiggs 💔

This beautiful boy is our newest resident, and his story will break your heart.

A kind member of the public called us after finding Tiggs abandoned and alone. When he arrived, he was in a truly heartbreaking state — covered in flies, drooling excessively and clearly in pain.

Poor Tiggs has a mouth full of severely rotten teeth. Every bite is painful for him. To give him any chance of a comfortable, happy life, he will likely need a full mouth extraction — a costly but life-changing procedure.

Despite everything he has been through, Tiggs is the sweetest boy. He deserves so much better.

We never want cost to be the reason a cat doesn't get the care they desperately need, but as a small rescue, operations like this put a huge strain on our funds.

If you can help Tiggs get his smile back, we would be so grateful. Even £1, £2 or £5 will go directly towards his dental surgery, pain relief and aftercare.

If you can't donate right now, please could you share this post for Tiggs? Sharing saves lives too.

We will keep you all updated on his journey. Let's get this beautiful boy pain-free.

Thank you so much, from all of us at Cat Watch Rescue Shelter 🐾❤️

💛 Margot, The Queen of Calm Seeking Her Kingdom

Margot is an affectionate, people‑loving girl who wants nothing more than to be near her humans. She’s the cat who curls into your side on the sofa, sleeps on your bed like she owns the deed, and spends her days supervising from her favourite basket. She is happiest when she is doted on, adored, and treated like the centre of someone’s world.

She has lived alongside a very gentle, older Goldendoodle and coped beautifully so a calm, older dog may be fine. But she would not cope with a puppy or a high‑energy household.

What Margot truly needs is a calm, adult‑only home (or older children 12+) where life is steady, predictable, and peaceful. She enjoys roaming the garden in short supervised bursts, but she is primarily an indoor girl who prefers comfort, routine, and her humans close by.

🌿 Why Margot Needs a New Start

Margot has lived with young children for several years, and despite every effort, she has become increasingly stressed. She hides whenever the children are home and only emerges when the house is quiet, snuggling into her humans the moment the chaos fades. She is telling her family clearly that she cannot cope with a busy home, and her wellbeing is now being affected.

This decision has not been made lightly. Her family has tried for years to help her adjust, but Margot needs a calmer life than they can provide. They love her dearly and want her to have the peaceful, stress‑free home she deserves.

✨ Margot’s Personality

Affectionate companion, happiest glued to her humans

Indoor-focused with supervised garden adventures

Sassy and expressive, full of character and charm

Thrives in calm environments

Wants to be the centre of attention

Margot is ready for a home where she can finally relax where she can be cherished, cuddled, and adored exactly the way she deserves.

✨ Marvellous Milo, Searching for His Forever Home ✨

Milo is a Turkish Angora with eyes like twin jewels, one blue, one green, and a heart that has stayed soft despite everything he’s been through. He’s gentle, affectionate, people‑loving, and absolutely devoted to his humans. When he trusts you, he leans his whole little world into you.

But Milo has had bad experiences with other animals, and he carries those memories with him. He becomes frightened, overwhelmed, and stressed around cats or dogs. For his wellbeing and for the safety of everyone involved. Milo must be an only pet.A quiet home, no other animals, and humans who will treasure him. That’s all he needs.

💛 What Milo Offers

Unconditional affection, he bonds deeply and loves fiercely

Gentle companionship, he thrives on closeness and routine

Soft, calm presence, perfect for someone wanting a loyal, soothing friend

🚫 What Milo Cannot Live With

Other cats

Dogs

Busy multi‑pet households

🏡 The Home He Needs

Calm, predictable environment

Someone who wants a cat that truly loves human company

A person or family who understands that trust is a gift and Milo gives it beautifully

🐱 DOES MY BUMP LOOK BIG IN THIS? 🐱

Meet Lady - our beautiful calico mum-to-be who could give birth any day now! As you can see, she is VERY pregnant.

Lady and our other residents have a plea...

WE ARE DESPERATELY LOW ON SCRATCH POSTS & CAT TREES!

We go through them so quickly, and with kitten season in full swing (Lady's babies will be here any moment!) we need more than ever.

Can you help by donating a new or gently used scratch post or cat tree?

Why are they SO important? It's not just furniture, it's essential enrichment:

For Cats like Lady:
• Stress relief & comfort: Scratching is a natural stress reliever. For a pregnant mum, or a nervous cat new to rescue life, it's how they self-soothe.
• A safe high space: Cat trees give them vertical territory. Being up high makes them feel safe and secure while they watch the world - especially important for mums about to nest.
• Healthy claws: It keeps claws healthy and lets them shed old layers naturally, and saves them from needing to scratch anywhere else.

For Kittens (like Lady's soon-to-be arrivals!):
• Learning to be a cat: Scratching, climbing and balancing are vital skills. Trees teach them coordination, muscle strength and confidence.
• Burning off that kitten energy: A good scratch post and tree is the best outlet for zoomies, play-fighting and learning boundaries with siblings.
• Happy, adoptable kittens: Well-enriched kittens are more confident, less stressed, and grow into well-adjusted cats.

If you have a spare scratch post, cat tree or tower gathering dust in the garage, or would like to donate a new one from our Amazon wishlist / donate towards one, we would be so grateful.

Even small, single sisal scratch posts are amazing for our kitten pens!

📍 Drop off at our collection points. We have one in Tesco Amesbury and one at Pets at Home Andover. Please let us know if you do this so we can get a volunteer to collect asap.
💌 Or message us if you can arrange collection locally
🛒 Or look at our Amazon wishlist, the link is in the comments

Please share this post to help Lady and friends!

Thank you so much as always for your support ❤️

🐈‍⬛ Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day! 🐈‍⬛

Today is August 17th - Black Cat Appreciation Day - and here at Cat Watch Rescue Shelter we are celebrating our gorgeous mini-panthers!

Our black cats are just as loving, silly and cuddly as any other colour, but here's the sad truth: black cats are the hardest to rehome. At any one time around 70% of cats in rescue centres are black or black-and-white, and they can take up to 13% longer to find a home than other cats.

Why? They don't photograph as well for websites, they can be harder to tell apart at first glance, and old superstitions still follow them around.

So today we're busting some myths with some fun facts about black beauties:

🖤 Fun Facts You Might Not Know:
1. Good luck here in the UK! In Britain and Japan, black cats are actually considered GOOD luck. Sailors used to keep them on ships for safe voyages.
2. They are little rust machines. Many black cats have a hidden tabby gene - lie in the sun too long and their fur can turn a rusty reddish-brown!
3. Mini-panthers. Bombay black cats were bred to look like tiny black panthers. All black cats have that sleek, wild-cat strut.
4. Super immune systems. Some research suggests the gene that makes them black may also give them stronger resistance to certain illnesses.
5. You can actually SEE their personality. Because you can't get distracted by markings, you really learn to read their eyes and expressions - and they are SO expressive.

We have several stunning black cats here at Cat Watch right now waiting for their forever sofas.

If you've been thinking of adopting, please consider a black cat. Come and meet them - in person their personalities shine so much brighter than any photo.

Share a photo of your black cat in the comments to show them some love! Let's make this Black Cat Appreciation Day the day they finally get noticed.
