South Wilts Mencap South Wilts Mencap supports, enables and inspires people with learning disabilities. We offer advice and support through our family visitor service.

South Wilts Mencap supports people with learning disabilities; inspiring them to achieve their full potential and enabling them and their families to lead fuller lives. We do many different things…

We run clubs and events for a range of age groups. We provide grants for people with learning disabilities. We run our own holiday company, Breakaway
We work with local organisations and Councils to help make our people’s lives better. We have a charity shop in Salisbury run solely by volunteers.

Come and meet the Trustees!

Join us for an engaging meet and greet with the Trustees of South Wilts Mencap, where they will share key updates; discuss what is happening within the charity, what we have been up to over the last few months, and what there is to look forward to in the future.

More importantly, we want to hear from you – your thoughts, comments, issues or compliments.

Your voice matters, your ideas count, so let’s make it happen together!

We hope to see you there.

This old girl has had a face lift (no, I don’t mean me!! 😉)

She came to the shop looking worn, tired and ready for retirement. Such a beautiful vintage piece, with no doubt, many stories to tell, couldn’t be thrown out and forgotten 😢

She has some minor wear inside, but hey, haven’t we all, but on the outside, she is fresh, gleaming and ready for her new adventure! 😍

She will be in our charity shop from Wednesday so don’t hesitate, come on down and snap her up before it’s too late!

Adam, our wonderful Chair’s husband, is running the London Marathon in April to raise funds for Mencap and South Wilts Mencap 💪

We are so immensely proud and honoured that he has chosen us as one of his charities. 🫶🏻

Click on the link to read his story and if possible, donate any amount, no matter how small, to boost him through the gruelling 26 miles!

We would also be really grateful if you could share this to all your friends and family - together, let’s help Adam reach his target!

In keeping with Small Charities week, we celebrated our shop volunteers with a tea party and presented them with an award in recognition for the outstanding contribution they have made in supporting people with learning disabilities. Our volunteers are the backbone of the charity and we are so very grateful for all they do ❤️

This Small Charity Week (22–29 June), South Wilts Mencap is proud to be part of a national celebration of the vital role small charities play in communities across the UK.

This year’s campaign, Small charities. Big impact., shines a light on the difference small charities make every day, supporting people, strengthening communities and creating change where it matters most.

Hats, hats and more hats!! We have hats for any occasion! If you need a summer hat, posh hat, fascinator, baseball cap, etc, then come on down to our charity shop on Catherine Street and bag yourself a bargain. The best bit, you will be supporting a wonderful cause in the process! ❤️

The poor volunteers and what I make them do on a Wednesday afternoon (I’m sure they love it really)! 🤦‍♀️😆

If you don’t need a hat, that’s fine, we have so many more bargains and treasures, that I’m convinced you will find something you love! If not, just pop in and say hi.
