1st Woodcutts Scout Group

WOW. What a couple of weeks it has been. Thank you to all those who came to support the Firework Spectacular. A huge £17500 raised for Woodcutts and a further £1500 for other good causes in Sixpenny Handley.

Next year will mark 25 years of the Firework Spectacular, we have already designed the start of the main display and have something extra special up our sleeve. Get the date in the diary now - Saturday 31st October.

We had just about recovered from fireworks and then it was Remembrance Sunday! The young people were fantastic, smartly turned out and made us all proud. With 105 on parade, it was one of our largest ever turn-outs and we filled the High Street. The little bit of rain did not dampen the spirits and all the young people showed their hardiness and resolve.

The last couple of weeks have proved, once again, that we have an amazing and special group of young people and volunteers at Woodcutts. Thank you for your continued support and here's looking forward to more adventures in 2026!

Tomorrow - Sunday 9th - 1st Woodcutts will be meeting at 10:15am at Town Farm Workshops ready to parade up the High Street to the War Memorial for our act of Remembrance. Our flag bearers, and anyone else who wishes, are invited into St Mary's Church, Sixpenny Handley for the rest of the Remembrance service.

Looking great for Race Night on Saturday. We have some fantastic raffle prizes - a game for four at Rushmore Golf Course, afternoon tea for two at Cranborne Garden Centre, £50 voucher for the Museum Inn, Snowtrax Activity voucher, beer, chocolates, merchandise from the Tap and lots more.
Tickets for the night are on sale in the Butchers in Sixpenny Handley and available on the door.

Scouting for Fun with Woodcutts

For nearly 70 years, Woodcutts Scouts have been providing fun, friendship and adventure to the young people of Sixpenny Handley and the surrounding villages. Now recognised as one of the most successful and vibrant groups in the region, Woodcutts provides weekly activities for young people from the age of 4 to 18.

Come along to the Sixpenny Summer Celebrations and try your hand at Scouting skills. Make a badge, cook over an open fire, try you hand at tomahawk throwing, practice your knotting skills (with a sweet twist) and test your team working and leadership skills with the Explorers.

Like all activities at the Sixpenny Summer Celebrations, these activities are free to try and have been made possible by the generous sponsorship of local businesses and the many volunteers giving their time.

Calling all friends of Woodcutts. This Saturday is our first ever Rock and Roll Bingo. Think bingo meets disco, with a bar and BBQ - what more do you need? Please support your Scout group and join us at this fundraiser. Events like this ensure the upkeep of our HQ and subsidise activities, such as our trip to Brownsea and Summer Camp - Thank you!

⚜️You may have spotted our young people, parents and leaders litter picking this morning. Wonderful to see such enthusiasm to keep our community clean!🤩 Thank you to Ciona, our Parish Clerk, Sixpenny Handley and Pentridge Parish Council and Dorset Council for providing the litter picking equipment and collecting our haul of rubbish 🙏
