Sarum Open Award Centre

Sarum Open Award Centre Sarum OAC is an 'Open' centre aimed at giving young people aged between 14 and 24 in the local area opportunity to complete each of the 3 levels of the DofE

The Centre is a partially funded, volunteer group looking to offer access to the DofE to those who do not have easy access near to them or their school or college. We will be opening the centre on fortnightly Wednesday evenings between 7.30 and 9pm starting with our launch night on Wednesday 2nd November at Salisbury Youth Centre on Wilton Road. Ultimately (after Christmans) we aim to run 2 centre

s meeting on alternate Wednesdays with one based at the Wilton Road Centre and one in the Laverstock area to provide maximum access to those wishing to attend. The centre will be run by a qualified, CRB'd member of staff who will be assisted by volunteers from the local area from a range of backgrounds all of whom have knowledge of either the outdoors or the DofE and who are keen to enable young people to have the opportunities they have had. All adults working with the groups will carry a current Enhanced Criminal Records check with most, if not all, having a current first aid certificate and some form of walking qualification. We are always looking for more volunteers at all levels. Even if you have no experience but feel you would like to get involved please get in contact. The more volunteers we have the more young people we can accomodate!
