NCT Salisbury & South Wiltshire We are the charity that supports people as they become parents.
We are the charity that supports people as they become parents.

Our vision is that everyone who becomes a parent feels confident, connected, and safe because we believe parents help build the foundations of the future. Every year NCT supports over 250,000 parents across the UK and Channel Islands on their unique journeys through pregnancy, birth, infant feeding, and early parenthood. We connect, inform and support parents through our antenatal and postnatal co

urses, peer support programmes, and community-based events. We provide access to evidence-based information through our website and free Infant Feeding Support Line 365-days a year. For 65 years we have created transformative change in the lives of parents, acting as a trusted voice, reassuring presence, and strong advocate. Today, we have a huge opportunity to positively influence the experience of millions more people as they become parents and to shape a bright future together. Though the recommended room temperature for babies is 16 โ€“ 20ยฐC, keeping your baby's room temperature in this range can be harder in summer or in a heatwave!

We want to remind you that in really hot weather, it's fine to dress your baby in just a nappy, or a short sleeve vest. Research shows that babies are safer being cooler than being too hot, as overheating increases the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

It might also help to:
- Open the bedroom door and a window, if itโ€™s safe to do so, to allow the air to flow.
- Use a fan to cool the room, but donโ€™t aim it directly towards the baby.
- Keep curtains closed in the daytime so the room doesnโ€™t heat up as much.
- Use a thermometer to check the room is the right temperature โ€“ as itโ€™s hard to guess.

But even after doing all of the above in this heat, it can be frustrating when the room is still hot and it's out of your control. So for peace of mind, continue following all of our safer sleep guidance ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://bit.ly/4hXVWfq

Our next SEN Rhyme Time is 11am Saturday 22nd August. We will be reading โ€˜โ€™Whisper, Shout, Let it Out!โ€™ by Madhvi Ramani and Anuska Allepuz.
