It’s Volunteers' Week and we are celebrating our wonderful team of volunteers, who keep our charity going! You know who you are, you turn up and help so many others every week at social drop-in; you home-bake delicious cakes & savouries; make jams and pickles, home grow plants and veggies; you get creative with cards, ceramics, knitting and crochet for our market stall; you give up your free time manning the market stall; running drop-in; you make events happen; you fundraise; you spread the word of our services, you make cups of tea and always bring warmth and a smile. We are so very proud of you all 💜 without you we would not be able to offer the support we do.

We were pleased to have The Skylarks with us last week at social drop-in; a fantastic singing group open to all cancer patients, their families and carers providing relaxation and support through singing together. The Skylarks donated 🌟£500 🌟to our charity this month! This donation enables us to offer over 15 sessions of counselling, yoga or therapies to our clients, we are so appreciative. Look out for more singing dates at social-drop in with The Skylarks 🐦‍⬛🎶

Today is International Day of Action for Women's Health - a global call to protect, promote and advance the health rights of women and girls everywhere.

Lobular Breast Cancer is the second most common form of breast cancer yet its not currently recognised as a distinct disease. Our campaign aims to ensure that Lobular Breast Cancer is recognised and treated as a distinct disease across the UK health system.

A particular focus of the campaign is to achieve change in breast treatment guidelines.

The campaign involves a range of activities, including the first UK patient survey which you may have already participated in, a media campaign to increase knowledge and information about Lobular, a study to identify the research evidence available or needed to change the guidelines, an MP drop-in which took place in March, and the development of new Lobular information materials for the public and health care professionals.

To take action, we ask that you please share our Lobular digests with your healthcare teams to help raise understanding of Lobular. You can download them from our website: https://buff.ly/egcgsNc

🎗Skin Cancer Awareness Matters 🎗

Melanoma and other forms of skin cancer can affect anyone, but early detection saves lives.
Take a moment to check your skin for any new or changing moles, spots, or unusual marks.

🧴 Protect your skin:
✔️ Wear sunscreen daily
✔️ Use protective clothing and hats
✔️ Avoid excessive sun exposure
✔️ Never ignore changes in your skin

A simple skin check could make all the difference. Encourage your loved ones to stay sun safe and schedule regular skin exams. 💛

Bladder cancer is one of the most common cancers, and recognising the signs early can make a real difference to outcomes. The most common symptom is blood in your p*e, even if it only happens once or is not painful, and it should always be checked by a GP.

Other symptoms to look out for include:
• Pain, burning or stinging when passing urine 💧⚠️
• Needing to p*e more often or urgently 🚽⏱️
• Repeated urinary infections 🔁🩺
• Pain in the lower tummy or back 🤕✨
• Feeling very tired or losing weight without trying 💙📉

These symptoms are often caused by other conditions, but it’s important not to ignore them. Getting checked early can lead to earlier diagnosis and more effective treatment.
