Last week we organised our scout cupboard and took inventory of what we have in our cupboard. All prepared for September!!

Saturday daytime activities.

Up bright and early at 7am yesterday morning. We started the day with some pioneering activities and pyrography wood burning.

After lunch we went on a hike and exploration to build dens and play some football. 3 hours later we walk back slowly and have a bunch of exhausted cubs.

We spent the afternoon colouring, drawing and leaders trying to stay awake.

A small campfire in the evening because of the wind and then straight to bed for the kids. We actually made it to bed before midnight last night which means a success.

Bring on the last day!

Night one of our group cub and scout camp!!

We chilled with music, collected firewood and made smores. Hopefully they'll all kind of sleep tonight

Our final cub session of the year consisted of completing the fabric squares for the district mural and writing down their fears, questions, concerns and excitements down for our camp this weekend.

This was an excellent way for me to answer any last minute questions that they had and to figure out what they were all worried about.

Thank you so much to all the young people for living up to the promise and cub law this academic year.

For those joining us on our camp I will see you Friday for those who are unable we will see you in September!

Squirrels and beavers September 2025-July 2026.

Today marked our final session before the summer holidays. We had a party to celebrate all that we have done and achieved as a section.

It was also my (Grace) final regular session as a squirrel and beaver volunteer as I will be progressing to focus fully on cubs. I'll be back occasionally but my weekly attendance will cease.

We had a party (with balloons and food) and let the youngsters have a session of giggles and fun with their leaders and friends.

We also received a lovely gift and card from one of our parents. Thank you so much for all the unwavering support of the volunteers and parents who without them the section wouldn't be possible.

Our squirrels and beavers last night had a fun session all about building.

They had Jenga, Lego bricks and cardboard boxes. Started as a climbing in the boxes session to making Minecraft creepers out of pieces of cardboard. Smiles and laughs from all

On Wednesday we partnered up with Sarum Academy as part of their annual citizenship day.

We had a group of 9 year 7 students who came to learn all about scouts and the values of scouting.

They started off with a quick match the badge activity and the only ones they struggled with was the district and county badge.

They then planned their own 10 week term and we spoke about how the scout troop often planned or had a huge say in planning their own sessions.

We practiced some knots including the friendship knot which they mastered surprisingly quickly while I practiced my own square lashing in the corner.

Before lunch we played some games of guessing who picked which celebrity name which they enjoyed so much we played it 4 times.

Lunch was chilled out with Alexander one of our scouts leading a bottle flipping competition.

After lunch they split into two teams to solve a murder before they head back to Sarum Academy.

Last night our squirrels and beavers got to work decorating their fabric squares for the district mural for the beavers 40th birthday.

They had many creative ones including some ones representing friendship and colours.

I'm sure district will be very proud, well done all!
