Last night our squirrels and beavers were discovering music and us leaders found the secret recipe to burning off energy.

They clapped along to the lion king, practiced fruit syllables by saying them out loud and clapping. "Watermelon" proved to be quite tricky.

They also used a floor piano to learn twinkle twinkle little star and we had one beaver grasp it super quickly.

They then completed the session with Danny go and some dancing.

Well done all.

DIY: ๐Ÿ”ง๐Ÿ”ฉ๐Ÿ—œ๏ธ

Tonight our cubs had a special visit from Charlotte who is doing design at university and came in to talk to them all about DIY and the beginning parts of it.

They first had a talk about what a tool is and identifying different types of tools from the shadow. They were pretty good at naming the correct tools. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

They then played a game of safe or silly and were shown many different scenarios for inside a workplace and had to decide wether the worker was being safe or silly. Mostly correct answers with a few mixed opinions all round.

Finally they got to have a look at the toolkit and even try out a few tools and hold some. They were amazing listeners and excellent behaviour for all.

Thank you to Charlotte we hope to have you back to do some more DIY in the future.

Today our squirrels and beavers went outside to pinewood ways community garden and were planting sunflower seeds and a range of other flower seeds as well.

They then played a big hunt game and found many different creatures including a moth a beaver ended up holding.

Great session from all see you next week.

*Pride month*

Tonight our cubs focused on spreading kindness and embracing their individuality. We spoke about scouting and how it is an inclusive space for everyone no matter the gender, race, preferences, religions. We even delved back into history when scouting used to be just for boys. A few cubs commenting on the fact that most of our group leaders are women.

Their first task was to write compliments to others in their cub pack. The compliments were anonymous and will be read out next session as a pleasant surprise. Leaders wrote some too and I wrote one for every cub and leader in the room.

They then made handprint cards using bright colours that they thought represented them before also creating puppets using resources found in the different resource boxes in tej scout cupboard.

We finished with a game of bingo which gets very intense with 12 children ages 8-10.5.

Another amazing session, see you next week.

*Pioneering*
Tonight the scout troop practiced knots and then built catapults in teams. We ended with a little competition to see which team could launch their paper ball the farthest. Well done everyone.

Tonight our squirrels and beavers were celebrating the start of Pride month by learning all about diversity and inclusivity.

They explored this by using colours to create cards using their handprints for those they wanted to spread love too as well as making colourful puppets
