Salisbury & District Young Farmers Club

Salisbury & District Young Farmers Club We are a group of young people interested and invested in the countryside🌾

You don’t have to be a farmer to be a young farmer 💚 Today there are over 650 clubs.

YFC is a Voluntary Youth Organisation for young people aged between 10 & 26 years. It is a registered National Charity and provides opportunities for “fun, learning and achievement”. The movement is 90 years old and was started to give young people in the countryside a way of socialising with other young people in their areas. Today’s members come from all walks of life but share a common interest

in the rural environment and enjoy sports, outings, interesting talks and demonstrations, travel, disco's.….. You don't have to be a farmer to be a Young Farmer!

This past week we went on a fab farm tour of Druids Lodge, kindly hosted by Mike and Stuart. 🌾🐄

From watching their rotary parlour in action, to getting a look inside their Anaerobic Digestion plant, marvel at lots of big kit and shown the runnings of their game rearing, we had a wonderful evening! 🐣🪶

We’ve had a busy Spring at Young Farmers, so busy we forgot to post on here!! 🫣🌷☀️

Here is a snapshot of what our members got up to over the past few months 📸🤩🩵

Last week we got the chance to go fishing, kindly hosted by the Rowlands at Bulford Lakes 🐟🐟

From self defence classes with Adam from React Self Defence, to a wonderful tour by Nat at Bluestone Vineyard, there really has been something for everyone.🍇✨🥋We were kindly shown around the calf unit and dairy at Nunton Dairy early in the spring, had a super interesting talk and display from Wild Fish, an organisation working to promote the wild fish of UK rivers and their habitats, from beekeeping to lambing, we’ve had a look at all different sorts of farming this spring! And of course we did lots of prep for the WYFC County Rally day! 🐄🎨🌟🐟

A BIG thank you to all our wonderful hosts this spring, we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!!

If you’re interested in coming along to YFC, please ping us a message. There’s still lots planned for the rest of the YFC year before we take a break for harvest, so please do come along! 🩵☀️🌾

A big thank you goes out to all the members, parents and junior leaders who got stuck in and have helped with all the prep to get the club to the day, we hope you enjoyed it as much as much as we did!

Congratulations to for winning, maybe next year we’ll give you a run for your money 🫣😂🥇

Thank you very much to the Candy family for hosting us for a second year running, and to all the Rally committee for putting on a fab day! Here’s to next year!! ☀️🧑‍🌾👏

On Wednesday evening we were kindly hosted by Josh from Winterbury Training for a lesson of First Aid. 🩹 ⛑️🩺

He was a wonderful teacher, and our members enjoyed learning about different life saving techniques and safety measures to put in place to prevent needing medical care! 🏥👷‍♀️🩻

Junior First Aid is a competition at our Pre Rally Comps Day on the 25th April! We hope all that attended learnt lots and are looking forward to putting it into practice in a couple of months!⭐️👀🩺

Recent changes to UK Inheritance Tax are reshaping how family wealth, businesses and pensions should be structured for the next generation.

We are joining forces with Moore (South) on an upcoming event to share our knowledge about the impact of the new Inheritance Tax legislation.

This focused session will discuss several areas, including:
☑️ Reforms to Agricultural Property Relief (APR) and Business Property Relief (BPR)
☑️ Pensions being brought into the scope of IHT
☑️ The continued freezing of IHT allowances

Alongside Moore (South), Ashley Partridge and Harriet Burt will explore succession planning strategies, liquidity considerations and actions families and advisers should be considering now to protect long-term family wealth.

The details for the event are:

Date: Tuesday 24th February
Venue: The White Hart Hotel
Time: 7.45am with refreshments being served at 8am. The seminar will then end by 9.30am.
Cost: Free

You can book your place using the link below...we look forward to seeing you there!
