I had a hitchhiker on my hair today. This beautiful looking beetle. Honestly, the photo does not do justice to it.

This is the Alder Leaf Beetle. It is a small but brilliant metallic blue colour. 💚

It was thought to be extinct in Britain for many years but is now making a comeback.

Can be found on Alder, Willow, Hazel and Birch trees.

Britain's wildlife is at risk. One in six of our precious species is under serious pressure so my mission is to bring the true reality of the nature crisis and viable solutions to you.

We have to take action and that means building communities of nature lovers across the country, those who are willing to try different things to help wildlife on their patch. This could be as simple as putting up swift boxes at home, creating (or buying) a bee hotel or planting for pollinators. It could be just talking to friends and families and sharing nature-related stories.

I want to engage with nature lovers whether experienced, or those who are enthusiastic to know more.

I believe that we are currently so far removed from the natural world and have forgotten this simple fact....we are a part of nature. When we harm the rich tapestry of life that shares this planet alongside us, we harm ourselves.

Let me help you experience the joy of nature, to reconnect with the natural world and to be a nature protector however that is possible for you.

Saving Britain's Wildlife is a personal mission but it would be wonderful to connect with other like-minded individuals.

One Planet News has been a successful and, I think, much-needed publishing venture, and it has been a privilege to bring wildlife news to the fore on this platform, but change is needed.

When I first set up One Planet News, it was to highlight scientific news about wildlife, environmental news and climate change. As a journalist, I wanted to write news stories to help create awareness of the natural world as it happened.
