*Volunteers needed!*

We're teaming up with NHS Fife
Greenspaces to plant a wildflower meadow on Forth Ave, near Kirkcaldy train station. We need help with moving turf, shovelling compost and mixing and scattering seed.

You’ll be instrumental in creating a beautiful space, visible from the
train and bus routes in the middle of town. Wildflower meadows improve
wellbeing of visitors to the site and passers-by, as well as creating
critical habitat for pollinators and other creatures in urban areas.
Once sown, the wildflower beds will blossom in spring, and continue to
develop over the summer and into coming years. Leave a lasting trace!

Come along for a couple of hours or a whole day. Sunday 27th Sept from
1pm, or Monday 28th from 10:30am until we're done.

Snacks provided!

Fife Seed Library are so excited to be part of The heritage seed relay to celebrate 50 years of the Heritage Seed Library! We chose to plant the Macgregor’s favourite beet 🫜 …then cycled 18 miles over the Tay bridge to Campy Growers to continue along this relay! The relay highlights the vitally important work of seed libraries in safeguarding food security and genetic diversity, in an era of food shortages and climate change. Thank you Garden Organic UK for organising this whole event!

You can visit the Fife Seed Library this summer at the YMCA Hub in Kirkcaldy!

Always wanted to save seed but don’t know where to start? Interested in gardening and growing, but struggling to get out and about? Want to try something mindful that will connect you with nature? This event is for you!

Help the Fife Seed Library to build our collection by processing the seeds which have been donated to us by local growers.

Join us for a relaxed, indoor, seated session where you can learn all about seed saving for different crops, and get hands on with some of our seeds that are waiting to be sorted. You’ll be able to get involved with whichever parts of the process are interesting to you:

learn how to sort the seeds from the chaff
learn about which seeds need to be dried or pre-processed before storing
measure out seeds and put them into our compostable seed packets
write labels for the packets of saved seeds
No experience needed! Even if you have never gardened or thought about seed saving before, everyone is welcome.

Light refreshments will be provided, and you’re welcome to bring your own lunch or snacks.

This event is part of the Fife Climate Festival and has been generously funded by FCCAN!
