1938 Salford City & Eccles Squadron Welcome to 1938 Squadron Air Cadet's page. Here you can learn about what we do and hopefully become a part of our squadron.

We offer many fun and exciting opportunities such as flying, gliding, adventure training, Duke of Edinburgh Award, visits to RAF stations, sports and much much more! We do not directly recruit for the Royal Air Force but we are an integral part of it, providing exceptional training that is recognised by the RAF if a cadet strived for a career in the military forces. The transferable skills you can learn will also help you in many civilian jobs and also in day to day situations. Parade nights are Mondays & Wednesdays from 19:00-21:30. Interested in joining the Air Cadets?

On Wednesday 28th October we will be holding an Intake evening where the Squadron Staff and Cadets will give a presentation on the Air Cadets and the activities that can be undertaken. This is a perfect time to find out just how high you can fly with the Air Cadets.

The intake night will start at 1900 and should last an hour. If interested, please get in touch with the Squadron so we know how many to expect.

1938 Squadron Take to the Skies!

Wednesday was not a normal school day for 8 of our Cadets, who attended RAF Woodvale yesterday for the chance to fly in the Grob Tutor. Despite the weather on the journey not looking promising all Cadets had the chance to undertake an Air Experience Flight. This flight also marked the end of the Blue Aviation Training for 7 of the Cadets.

Smiles were had all round!

And the results are in!

Yesterday Cadets from the Squadron took part in the annual Wing Training Day, competing against the other Squadron’s in the Wing in Drill, Banner Drill, First Aid, Leadership, Archery, Media and Air R***e.

At the start of the year the CO set the challenge of winning a Wing Trophy and we are pleased to announce the Cadets hit that target by winning the Media Competition thanks to the efforts of Cpl Patton

Overall place: 16th

Drill: 12th
Drill NCO: 10th
Banner Drill: 16th
Media: 1st 🏆
First Aid: 16th
Archery: 14th
Leadership: 27th

Congratulations and well done to all those who took part.

Summer doesn't stop the Air Cadets or 1938 Squadron! A little late but we are pleased to present the Training Round-Up for August.

Our Cadets continue to achieve whilst also enjoying the summer sun.

We would like to congratulate CWO Fearnehough who completed her Gold Cyber Course at RAF Cosford, her third gold badge under the Progressive Training Syllabus.

Additional congratulations go to Cpl Rostron and Cdt Babiker who represented Greater Manchester Wing at the Inter-Wing Rounders where GM Wing came 4th overall.

Leadership isn't about rank. It's about taking responsibility, supporting others and leading by example.

Every day across North Region, cadets are given opportunities to step outside their comfort zone. Whether they're organising activities, mentoring younger cadets or leading a team exercise, they're developing skills that will stay with them long after they leave the organisation.

These are the experiences that build confidence for school, university, employment and everyday life.

During last nights parade, members of our Recruit Flight undertook their first qualification as members of the Air Cadets.

They were taught basic lifesaving skills through the Essential First Aid Course. This focused on conducting a primary survey on a casualty, recognising and being able to treat signs of a heart attack, the recovery position, CPR, choking and how to deal with a bleed.

These are basic skills that our recruits can use in their own life and expand on in future courses.

Well done to the nine Cadets who undertook the training.

With thanks to the Lanes Group who donated the three CPR manikins that were used in last nights training.

Last nights parade ran a little late, that was due to the OC presenting our Cadets badges for their hard earned qualifications.

The squadron was proud to present;
Two Bronze Duke of Edinburgh badges
One Silver Cyber Badge
One Silver Space Badge
One Bronze Musician Badge
Two Presentation Skills Qualifications

The Squadron also welcomed three new Corporals to our NCO team. Congratulations go to Corporals, Patton, Rostron and Wright. These promotions highlight their dedication to the Squadron, Wing and Air Cadets, their drive to expand their horizons and desire to help our Junior Cadets thrive.

Although we are going into the Summer period our training programme does not slow down.
