1938 Salford City & Eccles Squadron

1938 Salford City & Eccles Squadron Welcome to 1938 Squadron Air Cadet's page. Here you can learn about what we do and hopefully become a part of our squadron.

We offer many fun and exciting opportunities such as flying, gliding, adventure training, Duke of Edinburgh Award, visits to RAF stations, sports and much much more! We do not directly recruit for the Royal Air Force but we are an integral part of it, providing exceptional training that is recognised by the RAF if a cadet strived for a career in the military forces. The transferable skills you can

learn will also help you in many civilian jobs and also in day to day situations. Parade nights are Mondays & Wednesdays from 19:00-21:30. For more information you can contact us @
[email protected] leave us a Facebook message or call us on 0161 787 8564 and leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We hope to see you soon at 1938 squadron where you can take hold of the spectacular opportunities you won't find anywhere else!

Yesterday Cadet’s from the Squadron joined together with those from 1099 (Worsley) Squadron, members of the ACF, SCC, veterans and dignitaries to celebrate the new Ceremonial Mayor of Salford, Councillor Robin Garrido.

This event ends a busy week for the Squadron that saw us return back to our Squadron Headquarters following a temporary building closure. Where Fg Off Lee put the Cadets through activities that tested their communication and team working skills.

The Squadron would like to thank Lanes Group for their recent donation of three Resuscitation Manikins. This training tool increases the Squadron’s ability to teach our Cadets basic life saving skills, such as CPR which is useful both inside and outside of Cadets.

During last nights Parade we were visited by our Squadron Padre who took the Cadets through a retrospective of the last 100 years and to get them to think how things would change in another 100 years. This linked into the Centenary of the City of Salford which was celebrated on the 21st. The night ended with a competition with some old style games without the assitance of technology.

The Squadron is also celebrating success;

Congratulations go to Cadet Warrant Officer Fearnehough who after attending her board last weekend has achieved the highest rank available to a Cadet. This promotion shows her dedication not only to the Squadron but to the Wing and the Air Cadets and her position as a role model for our younger cadets.

Additional congratulations go to three of our Cadets, Rostron, Vanacore and Wong who were presented with their Entry Level Awards in Health and Safety, Cpl’s Zolnierczyk and Shutyak who were presented with their Blue Road Marching badges and to our Cadets who attended a Sector Training Weekend and successfully passed their course.

Today the City of Salford marked the Centenary of its receipt of the Royal Charter officially making the County Borough of Salford a city.

Over the last 100 years, Salford has seen many changes, expanded and transformed. Part of this change has been the addition of the Air Cadets.

Since the formation of the Air Cadets 85 years ago we have been part of Salford’s history. Squadron’s have come and gone, some closed, some merged yet through all that time we have continued to work with the youth of Salford. Fostering the spirit of adventure, teaching skills for life and making a difference in the lives of young people and an impact on the community we represent.

As the City of Salford prepares for its next 100 years, 1938 Squadron stands ready to continue to deliver the Air Cadet mission and help make our city greater.
