Barton Theatre Company Barton Theatre Company For more than fifty years ( and under two or three guises ! ) Barton Theatre Company has been creating theatre in Eccles and beyond !

From Shakespeare’s plays, to work from our home-grown writers, we’ve performed them in theatres, churches & retirement homes, sports clubs & marquees, art galleries & libraries - and on the streets, carparks and green spaces of Eccles. A group working closely in and with our community, we simply enjoy making theatre - whatever we do and wherever we do it. We rehearse in the Community Hall at Eccles Congregational Church on Wellington Road, Eccles, on Mondays and Thursdays from 19:30 and perform some of our shows there - and though our annual pantomime has been in The Lowry Studio for the last five years, we'll be in a new venue, 'The Empty Space' Theatre in Kansas Avenue Media City, for our January '25 Pantomime ( but we'll be back at The Lowry for our Spring '25 production of 'Under Milk Wood' )

From the days when you had to draw your posters freehand, use Letraset for the text …. then several of you had to photocopy a few at work when the boss was out having lunch !!
( And ……. when we were called Barton Players !! )
This production was in 1984.

Barton members supporting Eccles Congregational Church yesterday on Heritage Open Day as they celebrated their long history ……
The church is our rehearsal space - and the home of our quite extensive, wardrobe / props dept ( that we raided the night before to dress as people from various centuries ! ) And they’re a very good landlord to us and the other ‘tenants’ - hence our support for them !

Barton Theatre On Tour !!
Today at Peel Park helping celebrate the Park’s 180th birthday - and as I write this, the actors will be helping the Mayor cut the birthday cakes and leading the crowd in singing “ Happy Birthday to You !!
And thanks to the wardrobe team too ! The costumes look fabulous !
