This is a non judgemental service for people within Salford to gain information, help and support. I have started this group because for the past year and a half I cannot get the memory from my mind of the morning my daughter rang me to tell me that one of her friends had been been murdered by her ex boyfriend. Her name was Leanne Mcnuff and my daughter knew her well. She was inconsolable and I ha
d to leave college to go home and comfort her. Leanne was a beautiful mother of a one, just like my daughter and she was 24 just like my daughter. The similarity didn't end there Leanne had been in abusive relationship just like my daughter. Leanne saved my daughter's life because from that day my daughter decided to make a change and leave the abuse behind. She decided to be a survivor. Then just a few months ago a few miles from my home another beautiful young mother was murdered. Linzi Ashton was murdered by her ex of just a few months. I did not know her but I know so many of her friends and family. I cried for the children she left behind who will grow up without a mother, I cried for her family, especially her mother who has lost a daughter and that day I vowed enough was enough. I have been through the system myself as a child witnessing abuse against my own, as an adult and as a mother watching my own daughter and there is not enough help for people who want to make a change or want to be happy. They are judge by people who have never walked in their shoes and bullied by agencies who want them to do what they want and I think these people deserve more. I have started this project to make sure Leanne and Linzi and many others are never ever forgotten and so that everyone knows that LEANNE MCNUFF and LINZI ASHTON helped many many people to survive and get through the otherside this project is dedicated to them.
