Salford Sea Cadets

Salford Sea Cadets We are Salford Sea Cadets and part of the UK's largest maritime youth charity. Trips on warships and making cakes.

“Sea Cadets is the UK’s largest maritime youth charity. 9000 volunteers support 14,000 young people (between 10 and 18) in 400 towns across the UK. Through nautical adventure they learn vital life skills like leadership, communication and team working and can earn extra qualifications which help boost confidence to give them a head start in life. City of Salford Sea Cadets have been a continuous presence in the city since 1936 making us one of the oldest youth organisations to serve the young people of Salford. We are based in Worsley but our cadets come from across the City, and from a range of backgrounds. We take part in a huge range of activities ranging from sailing and rowing to climbing and archery. Our focus is on developing our cadets sense of self confidence, self discipline and motivation, all whilst having great fun, and trying new things. Cadets from Salford have gone on to do Charity work in Africa, join the Royal Marines, work as dental nurses, be desk officers in the Merchant Navy, become a captain in the Royal Navy, be a full time parents, study at University. We are constantly on the lookout for new cadets and new volunteers, whether you can spare a day as a one-off, or you want to get involved on a regular basis, come and tlak to us and see how you can help give something back to the young people in your community.

Good afternoon,

City of Salford Sea Cadets are having a Big Clean Up on Saturday 15th August 1200 - 1630. Please come give us a hand!
Over the last few months we have had a bit of work done on the unit as well as concentrating our training to on the water activities. Has we start to look at moving towards indoor training we thought it would be a great idea to have a big clean up. If you can spare a little time to come down and help us that would be fantastic. If you can't, you can still help by donating some cleaning gear.
There will be refreshments available, come give us a hand at
The Old Boatyard, Worsley, M28 2WN.

City of Salford Sea Cadets would like to remind everyone about being Safe on the water. We all love being on the water but we need to stay safe. Over 300 people a year accidentally drown in the UK. Child drowning deaths in England have doubled in the last 5 years.

Due to the hard work of our Unit Management Team especially our Treasurer we secured some funding. This funding has helped make our unit become more energy efficient and a more pleasant environment to teach and learn in.

We feel that with these small changes and future planned changes that we are in a better position to continue to grow. With the help of new volunteers and the commitment shown by the volunteers who have been here awhile, who are instrumental to our success, we feel we are in a good place to offer young people of Salford a fantastic Sea Cadet experience.

I would like to thank all our volunteers for their hard work, time and effort.

We feel that our new mast is a visible symbol of ethos
