As Volunteer’s Week 2026 comes to an end, we wanted to finish by hearing from the people who matter most …

Who better to say thank you than our young people and parents?

We are lucky to have such a great team of 19 volunteers who give their time, energy and care. Their impact goes far beyond what is seen on a Monday night.

To every one of our volunteers, thank you for everything you do. This simply would not be possible without you 🙌🏼

Two weeks ago we were getting ready to go to Unite… and we’re still talking about it! 🙌🏼

We asked some of our young people what their favourite part of the weekend was, and the answers said it all 💬

From trying something new, to the silent disco, and cheering everyone on at Unite’s Got Talent 🎤
But the best part was simply having fun together with friends. ✨

Unite gave our young people the chance to laugh, grow in confidence, make memories and enjoy every moment together.

Already counting down to next year…

A few weeks ago our Anchors and Juniors came together to explore the difference between good manners and bad manners… with the help of our Manner Monsters 👾

We played the Manners Monster board game and worked together to spot positive behaviours, challenge unkind habits and think about how our actions affect others.

There were plenty of laughs along the way, but also some brilliant conversations about kindness, respect and treating others well.

We finished off the evening by getting active with some team games in the sports hall 💪🏼

This Monday, our Anchors had a great evening learning all about fish! 🐟

We explored how pollution in our rivers and oceans can affect sea life and talked about ways we can all help protect the environment. 🌍

They also discovered some Bible stories involving fish, learning how God can use even the smallest things in amazing ways. ✨

Roscoe won Anchor of the Night - well done Roscoe!! 🙌🏼

It’s Volunteers’ Week, and we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible people who make 53rd what it is 🙌🏼

Every activity, trip, game, conversation, late night, early start, and opportunity we offer our young people is only possible because of our amazing volunteer team. Their time, energy, care and commitment make such a huge difference week in and week out.

We are so lucky to have such an incredible team!

To every volunteer past and present - thank you. 53rd simply wouldn’t be the same without you 💙

And if you’ve ever thought about getting involved, there’s always room for more volunteers in the team! If you’d like to find out more, drop us a message 📩

Unite 2026 🔴🟡🔵

Our young people have had an incredible time at ! A weekend of unforgettable memories from the silent disco 🪩 to Mega Mayhem inflatable chaos, taking on Unite Code Red 🚨, the campfire 🔥, assembly bangers 🎶 and great worship sessions… every moment was amazing.

We were so proud to see our young people getting on stage for Unite’s Got Talent 🌟 and our Captain, Phil, joining the Q&A panel to talk about faith in real life. ✝️

Most importantly, it was incredible to see our young people growing in confidence, building friendships and encountering God together ❤️ Even better that we get to do it alongside .

Huge thanks to everyone who made the weekend possible, we already can’t wait for next year! 🙌🏼

Polish Night 🇵🇱

On Monday, we had the opportunity to learn all about the culture of Poland through the experiences of some of our own members.

We had a great time discovering fun facts about Poland, taking part in a quiz, and of course enjoying some delicious Polish food! From snacks and drinks, to homemade noodle soup and dumplings - there was plenty for everyone to try 🍲🥟

A huge thank you to the parents who kindly provided the food for us all to enjoy, it was very much appreciated!

We finished off the night with our new favourite game - benchball dodgeball 🏐

Such a brilliant evening of learning, sharing and tasting something new 🙌🏼

From chocolate taste tests, to designing our own chocolate packaging, to hunting down chocolate bars… the fun never stopped 😄

Such a great night full of laughs, creativity and plenty of chocolate! 😋

And we ran it all off by with some great games of bench ball! 🏐
