A whale of a time at Anchors! 🐳

Last Monday, our Anchors dived into the story of Jonah and the Whale! 🐋

We kicked off with our favourite team games alongside the Juniors (always a highlight! 🙌), before Mr Phil got us thinking about all the different people we can pray for. 🙏

We then listened to the story of Jonah and put our knowledge to the test with a quiz to see if we could escape from the whale’s belly! 🐳

🎈 We got creative with balloons and Jelly Babies to recreate Jonah inside the whale, before enjoying some free-choice activities, including hunting for hidden sea creatures in an underwater scene! 🐠🦀

Another fun-filled evening of games, faith, creativity and adventure!

Harvest & Enrolment ✨

This morning we all gathered together at church for our Harvest & Enrolment service. It was fantastic to see the church absolutely full!

We thought about our “WOW!” moments and heard the story of creation, thinking about all the amazing things God has given us 🌍

We also celebrated the gifts and talents God has given each of us, and thought about how we can use them to help others and make a difference.

Our young people, leaders and congregation made their BB promises for the year ahead, and everyone brought harvest gifts to support our local food bank. 🥫

A brilliant morning celebrating our BB family, giving thanks and looking forward to everything still to come this session…. Followed by copious amounts of tea, coffee, juice & biscuits!!

On Monday, our Juniors faced plenty of dead ends, hidden routes and tricky challenges as they took on our maze themed programme!

They had to keep their cool, solve the puzzles and work out how to make it all the way to the finish! 🙌🏼

After escaping the maze, we headed into the sports hall where the Juniors started learning how to play benchball… learning the rules, practising their skills and, most importantly, having plenty of fun! 🏐

Energy drinks: what’s really in them? 🥤⚡

On Monday, our Company & Seniors took a closer look at energy drinks and caffeine.
We explored why too much caffeine isn’t good for us, how much caffeine we should actually be consuming, and what effect it can have on our bodies.

Then it was time to put their knowledge to the test! 🤔
We had a go at guessing just how much caffeine is hiding in some of the drinks we regularly see – from energy drinks to Pepsi Max, tea and more! ☕🥤

We also thought about a different kind of energy. We talked about how God can give us strength and energy when we’re feeling tired or worn out, and spent some time reflecting on our own week – the highs, the lows and the moments when we might have needed that little bit of extra strength.

Healthy eating… with a bit of taste testing! 🍓

On Monday, our Anchors & Juniors joined together for an evening all about healthy eating! 🙌🏼

We chatted about the different foods that help keep our bodies healthy and strong, before giving everyone the chance to try some new things - with some foods proving a little more popular than others!

It was brilliant to see everyone getting involved, having a go and being brave enough to try something they might not normally choose. 👏🏼

We then went into the sports hall for some team games and a run around to burn off all our energy 🏃

Another fantastic Monday evening, and great to welcome some new faces to Team 53rd. We have spaces in both Anchors & Juniors so come down and see us, or drop us a message if you’re interested for your child.

What a brilliant morning! 🍰☕️

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Charity Coffee Morning today, donated, bought cake and bacon butties, or simply stopped by for a cuppa and a chat!

We’re delighted to say that we’ve raised around £320 so far, with even more donations still expected! 🎉

The money raised will be supporting YoungMinds, one of The Boys' Brigade partner charities, and Moya Cole Hospice in memory of Chris Carney, who is very much missed. 💙

And the fundraising isn’t quite finished yet… we may have been a little too enthusiastic with the baking 🤣 so we’ll be selling our leftover cakes after church tomorrow, so there’s still another chance to grab something sweet and help us add a little more to the total!

Thank you again to everyone who baked, helped, donated and came along today. We really appreciate your support! 🙌🏼

Charity Coffee Morning – everyone’s welcome! ☕️

Join us on Saturday 19th September, 11am–2pm at Emmanuel Church & Centre, Langworthy Road for our Charity Coffee Morning!

We’ll be raising money for two fantastic causes:

💛 YoungMinds – a partner charity of The Boys’ Brigade, working to support young people and their mental health.

💙 Moya Cole Hospice – we’ll also be raising funds in memory of Chris Carney, who sadly passed away earlier this year and is greatly missed by our BB family.

Whether you’re part of BB, the church, the local community or simply fancy a cuppa and a slice of cake, everyone is very welcome.

Young Person of the Night is back! 🏆

Throughout the year, we’ll once again be celebrating our Young Person of the Night recognising someone from each age group who has stood out that evening.

It might be because they’ve been incredibly helpful, thrown themselves into the activities, encouraged someone else, shown a great attitude or simply been amazing! 🌟

And our first winners of the new session are…

There was definitely a competitive edge to our first night back for Company & Seniors! 🏆

We split into teams and went head-to-head in a series of viral challenges, testing everything from skill and reactions to concentration and a little bit of luck! 👀

There were plenty of laughs, some questionable tactics and, most importantly, lots of friendly competition along the way!

Then it was into the sports hall to finish the night with Dodgeball Benchball 🏐💥 … because apparently the viral challenges hadn’t been competitive enough!

A brilliant first Monday back and a great start to another year of Company & Seniors.

Plenty more challenges, activities and adventures to come!
