Was He In The Right Place?

Of Course He Was, God Had A Plan!

Mr R walked into our food club last week; he thought it was a food bank. He was very much in need and was looking for help. He was welcomed in and given plenty of food and it was explained to him the difference. A food bank needs a referral; the person goes along to a designated pick-up point with their referral and is given an emergency ambient food parcel. It usually contains pasta, tea bags, toilet roll, biscuits, tin of beans, that sort of thing
Whereas a food club has members, ours costs £5 per year to join, then you can come each time it is open and do an independent shop just like you would at a supermarket. Each shop costs £4 and generally has a worth of over £20. Obviously what is available at each session is dependant on what is available to us and what is donated. Our food club is open every Monday 11am -1:30pm and every Thursday 12pm – 2:30pm at St. Thomas’s Church Pendleton.
Mr R had a lovely conversation with Janet at our food club where he shared that he was really struggling. Janet offered prayer – he became emotional and right there and then he was led to the LORD. With a tear in his eye he accepted Jesus into his heart and said he will be coming to church.
Amen!

Next Stage Housing Encourages us to “Cast Your Anxiety On Him”

God cares for our families too…

Cath was very blessed recently to receive a thank you card from a young boy, the son of one of her clients. We had been praying for him as, due to illness, they had missed the deadline for applying for schools and it seemed that he may have to attend one a long way from home.
However, a couple of weeks ago, we received the good news that he will be able to attend the school close to his home where his friends also attend.
As 1 Peter 5v7 reminds us- ‘Cast all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you’
It’s a blessing to know that this care extends to the families of those we work with who are often caught up in circumstances outside their control.
Cath.

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Dear Friends,

Please find our summer edition of Clear Call.
There are two places near the bottom of our street where some hapless soul with a spray can has graffitied the word “WHY”.
I don’t know what irritates me more: the fact that someone feels that they can deface other people’s property, or the fact that they failed to include the question mark that good grammar requires!
“Why?” can be a great question in the right context, especially “why do we do what we do”.
Recently I carried out a personal growth exercise which brought me face to face with the “why?” question. The exercise required that I think about what makes me happiest, most satisfied and most alive? My considered, then somewhat giddy response was “Gospel Transformation!”
I love to witness the change the Gospel makes in myself, in others and in society. I’ve found my God glorifying “why?”.
This edition is all about the Gospel Transformation that goes beyond the personal. While we can never forget the impact of the Gospel on individual lives, we often argue that the love of God extends to the day-to-day issues of life including homelessness, hunger, social exclusion and poverty.
The result of our work can be measured in social impact – the difference we make in the local communities we serve – and that has value at many levels.
We’ve called this edition “For What It’s Worth…”. We hope it will give some insight into the difference that is generated through your partnership with MCM.

Just Look At God’s Blessings…

They Never Cease!

A new Aldi has just opened in the Salford area and we were invited to see if we wanted to pick up the surplus they have for charities Our Food Club did not have the capacity for anymore surplus, so I passed the opportunity on to our linked Food Club at Brookhouse.
On Monday, they picked up 299kg of goods which were on the tables ready to give out by the time they opened.
Here are the staff and volunteers rejoicing at the provision. When I visited after opening a little later, the place was buzzing with everything that was going on. They were also getting ready for the Bible study they have with members as the Food Club closes.

Just A Shopping Trip To Bolton?

God Had Other Plans…

It was just going to be a shopping trip for Paul and his wife Angie. They parked up at Bethel church and saw two men walking up the hill towards them. One of them, M, asked if we could supply him with a bible. Angie knew exactly where to look in church and so it didn't take long to find a New Testament Psalms and Proverbs. We mentioned the section on helpful bible verses and M went away happy with what we had supplied him with.

Having walked to a nearby retail park and entered one of the shops to look for some bedding both Paul and Angie noticed a familiar accent from another family there. Eventually Paul decided to ask a key question. 'Excuse me, but have you been to the Appleby Horse Fair?' 'Yes' was the reply. Three generations of the family of Irish Travellers were shopping together and we got into a long conversation with the grandmother. It turned out that Paul had visited a Traveller site in Salford where this lady had relatives. We promised to pray for K and her family. K responded saying that she would pray for us too.

A Word For The LORDS Day!

1 John 4:4

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Amen!
