Salford CVD Prevention Fund

Back in May this year, Salford Heart Care was awarded Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Prevention Funding of £2,000 on behalf of NHS Greater Manchester (Salford) and Salford CVS. The funding is being used to support blood pressure testing at our clubs across Salford, with the aim of improving health and wellbeing, and raising awareness of CVD.

During the first three months of the project we have taken more than 900 blood pressures! If you would like your blood pressure testing please come and see us at the club!

We're so excited to extend an invite to the premiere of Salford Everywhere, a monumental living portrait of Salford and its people created by award-winning visual artist and filmmaker Matthew Rosier... starring you!

This event is FREE for everyone, and you do not need to book a ticket. This is the only opportunity to see this event at this scale — it will be recorded but not shown as a live outdoor projection again. We'd love you to join us in celebration of the work we created together.

Access and Further Event Information:

When you arrive at the park, please come and meet the From The Other team at the Salford Everywhere Gazebo next to the food & drinks traders so we can welcome you to the event.

Transport:

To reduce any potential barriers (cost, distance) for you experiencing this event, we’re putting on free coaches from neighborhoods in Salford, on both nights:

Friday 9th
- Irlam (Pick up 6.30pm, leave Peel Park 9.30pm)

- Walkden (Pick up 6.30pm, leave Peel Park 9.30pm)

Saturday 10th
- Swinton (Pick up 6.45pm, leave Peel Park 9.30pm)

- Eccles (Pick up 6.45pm, leave Peel Park 9.30pm)

Access:
We have an accessible viewing platform available for anyone with access needs, who would benefit from a dedicated viewing space. The platform
offers step-free access with wheelchair spaces and chairs. There will also be a BSL interpreter viewable from this platform. Please email [email protected] to guarantee your space.

What to expect on the night

Live Salford Everywhere shows at 7.30-8.10pm and 8.45-9.25pm

Each show will be a combination of the projection-mapped video, DJ soundtrack, live music from Eccles Borough Band & Pendleton Sixth Form Choir and spoken word from poet Lynn Walton

Note this is the same screening & performance each time, so you'll get a chance to take in all the bits you missed first time round!

Food & soft/hot drinks will be available to purchase from traders

Pendleton Shopping City Tower:
9 & 10 October • 7pm-10pm

Every single participant will also be projected onto the Pendleton Shopping City Tower in a 1.5hr loop. Please note, at this location, there is no live music or food and drinks traders.

If you’re travelling to Salford Everywhere: A City Gathering via our free coach service, you'll catch a glimpse of the projections on the Pendleton Shopping City Tower on your way home. Or extend the celebrations and come back another night to watch the full loop!

Winton (Eccles) Healthy Heart Club will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday 8th September 2026 for trip day. The club will be open as usual next week on 15th September!

Elevate Salford will be running weekly Thursday sessions with partners, based at Irlam Library in the morning and Cadishead Rhinos in the afternoon. Residents will be able to drop in to the sessions and get advice and guidance, and access training alongside support with employability. They will also look to put on some specific courses/activities in the area over the next few months once they know a bit more about what people need most support with.

Good morning everyone. Reminder that there's no healthy hearts club at Irlam Steel club this morning due to a funeral taking place. We will be back open next week.

NHS Greater Manchester are running two public consultations which are focusing on the following:

1. Proposed changes to adult cardiac surgery services - Cardiac surgery treats serious problems with the heart and major blood vessels. This can include bypass surgery to improve blood flow, repairing or replacing heart valves, treating major blood vessel problems.

2. Proposed changes to adult vascular surgery services - Vascular surgery treats conditions affecting blood vessels such as arteries and veins. These problems can be serious and life-threatening such as blocked blood flow, blood clots and weak blood vessel walls (aneurysms).

All other cardiac and vascular care pre and post-surgery will continue to be delivered in the same way as it currently is and will not be part of the consultation.

While both consultations are running at the same time, they are separate pieces of engagement covering different services and draft proposals. Feedback will be considered independently for each consultation before any decisions are made.

Both consultations are now open and will run until Tuesday 22 September 2026.

This is an opportunity for patients, carers, staff and members of the public to have their say on the future of these services before any decisions are made.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear friend, volunteer and member, Sheila Sedgwick, aged 82, from Irlam.

Sheila passed away peacefully at home, with her family by her side, on Thursday 30th July 2026.

Sheila joined Irlam & Cadishead Healthy Heart Club in 2015 and attended regularly with her friends. She took part in many of our group lunches and day trips, and played a valued role in helping to organise numerous social events and parties over the years. Her kindness, enthusiasm, and gentle humour made her a much loved and well-known member of our community, and she will be deeply missed by all her friends.

Sheila’s funeral will take place on Monday 17th August, 12 noon, at Peel Green Crematorium. The wake will follow at The Club House, Barton Airport.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Sheila’s family and friends at this very sad time.
