A legacy that will live on through every child who discovers the joy of reading.

As the world remembers the incredible Dolly Parton, we celebrate not only the legendary singer, but the philanthropist who understood the extraordinary power of putting a book into a child’s hands. ❤️
Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, launched in 1995, millions of children around the world have received free books from birth to age five opening doors to imagination, language, confidence and opportunity.

Here in Pendleton, Salford, that legacy became part of our own community through the Pendleton Imagination Library, giving local children the opportunity to grow up surrounded by books.

Dolly showed us that a legacy is not only what we achieve in our lifetime, but what we make possible for the generations that follow.
Her music will continue to be heard, but perhaps one of her most beautiful legacies will be found in the quiet moments when a parent opens a book and reads to a child. 📖✨

As we come to the end of another incredible year of our Afrofitness and Community Basketball programmes, we'd love to share a snapshot of what we've achieved together over the past 36 weeks.

These sessions have only been possible thanks to the generous support of the Movement Fund from Sport England, together with the invaluable in-kind support from Salford Youth Zone and Pendleton Library, who have provided welcoming spaces for our community to come together, stay active, and build meaningful connections.

Between the 2 programmes, from September 2025 to July 2026 we delivery 68 sessions, engage with over 97 unique individuals and reach more families and extended network.

A heartfelt thank you to our funders for believing in our vision and investing in healthier, stronger and more connected communities.
We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to our incredible basketball coach, our dedicated volunteers, and our amazing Afrofitness instructor, your passion, commitment, and countless hours of in-kind support have made every session welcoming, inclusive, and inspiring for everyone who attended.

Jean- Claude Pierr, the senior Community Health Development worker, for the support in the last 3 years to keep the session in Pendleton.

Finally, we'd like to encourage local businesses, organisations, and supporters to partner with us so we can continue providing these much-needed opportunities for our community.Together, we can ensure these programmes continue to grow and make a lasting impact.

Thank you to every participant who joined us this year. Your energy, commitment, and smiles are what make these sessions so special. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

🌻 A Heartfelt Thank You from the Roots & Rhythms Team🌻

As we come to the end of our first Roots & Rhythms cohort, we would like to say a huge thank you to every family who joined us today for our final session, and to everyone who has been part of this wonderful 10-week journey.

It has been a privilege to get to know you and your children, to learn from one another, and to celebrate the richness of our different cultures, traditions and stories. Thank you for sharing a little piece of yourselves with us and for helping to create such a warm, welcoming and supportive community.

Last week, we planted a seed together as a symbol of our journey. We hope that every time you look at your sunflower, you'll remember the friendships we built, the laughter we shared, and the community we created together. Just as a flower needs love, care, patience and sunshine to grow, our relationships and communities flourish when we nurture them with kindness, respect and connection. 🌻

Today's celebration was the perfect way to close this special chapter. Sharing traditional food, telling stories from around the world, and celebrating our different cultures reminded us that while we all come from different places, we can grow and belong together.

We will truly miss every one of you and your little ones, but this isn't goodbye it's see you soon!

51 anos de Independência 🇨🇻

Neste dia em que Cabo verde celebra 51 anos de independência, o povo caboverdeano celebra também a força dos Tubarões Azuis, que devolveram fé, esperança e orgulho à nação cabo-verdiana.

De um pequeno arquipélago nasceu um povo gigante: resistente, unido, humilde e cheio de morabeza. A seleção mostrou ao mundo que, quando Cabo Verde acredita, o impossível ganha caminho.

Na Lusoconnectionuk, celebramos a riqueza da nossa diversidade, promovemos a união da comunidade lusófona e orgulhamo-nos de preservar e partilhar a herança cultural que nos une para além das fronteiras.

Há exatamente um ano, o futebol perdeu dois dos seus filhos: Diogo Jota e o seu irmão, André Silva.

Esta noite, quando Portugal entrar em campo, não serão apenas 11 jogadores.

Cristiano Ronaldo!!

His first game of the 2026 World Cup, and the country that should have embraced him spent more time questioning his place on the pitch than celebrating his greatness.

Yet, when it mattered most, he answered in the only way he knows how- with goals.

In what is likely to be his final World Cup, Ronaldo has once again made history, becoming the first player ever to score in six FIFA World Cups. An achievement that may never be matched.

For all those who doubted him, questioned his talent or said his time was over, he reminded the world why he is one of the greatest footballers to ever play the game.

At 41 years old, to still perform at this level, with this quality, determination and hunger, is simply extraordinary. It brings back memories of legends like Roger Milla, who also defied age and expectations on football's biggest stage.

Love him or not, football may never see another player like Cristiano Ronaldo.

What a talent. What a star. What a legacy.
