Our Urology Service at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust has recently received a new template biopsy machine, funded through charitable donations to NorthCare Charity 💙

This is a significant development for both the service and the patients who will benefit from improved access to diagnostic procedures.

The introduction of this equipment will enable the service to provide additional general anaesthetic biopsy lists at The Royal Oldham Hospital, helping to diagnose prostate cancer more quickly and efficiently. Previously, patients requiring this procedure under general anaesthetic had to be scheduled onto additional theatre lists, which were subject to availability and often required the service to bid for extra capacity. This could result in delays to diagnosis and treatment planning.

With the new template biopsy machine now available at Royal Oldham, the service can offer procedures Monday to Thursday within dedicated Urology theatre sessions. This increased capacity will support faster diagnosis, improve patient experience, and help reduce waiting times for patients undergoing investigation for prostate cancer.

After surviving a stroke, David Hiscott raised more than £37,000 to help create this specialist Stroke & Neuro Rehabilitation Gym. 💙

Following a life-changing stroke that left him paralysed down one side, David experienced first-hand the challenges of rehabilitation. Determined to help others on their recovery journey, he set out to make a difference, and through his incredible fundraising, raised more than £37,000 to help create this dedicated rehabilitation facility at Radcliffe Primary Care Centre.

The gym features specialist rehabilitation equipment, including a Guldmann hoist and gait training system, supporting people recovering from stroke and other neurological conditions to improve mobility, build confidence and maximise their recovery.

It’s AMAZING to see the gym now open and already making a difference to patients every week.

A huge thank you to David and everyone who supported his fundraising. Together, you’ve helped create a facility that will support recovery journeys for years to come. 💙 We are so proud of you!!!

A lasting legacy of love 💙

What began as a tribute to a much-loved wife, mum, grandma, daughter, sister and friend has become a gift that will support countless families for years to come.

In memory of Pam Pollitt, Mark, Ash, Laura and their family asked for donations to NorthCare Charity instead of flowers. Thanks to the incredible generosity of family, friends, the wider community and the Celia Mackay Charitable Trust, they raised an amazing £18,120.

The funds will refurbish the Haematology Family Room at Salford Royal Hospital, a place that brought comfort to the Pollitt family during Pam’s final weeks, and one that will now continue to support other families during some of life’s most difficult moments.

To the Pollitt family, thank you for turning your love for Pam into a legacy that will bring comfort, hope and compassion to so many others. 💙

A new wellbeing garden is coming to The Royal Oldham Hospital!

We’re working with the RHS - Royal Horticultural Society and our NorthCare Charity to transform the hospital’s Fountain Garden into a beautiful, calming space for staff, patients and visitors.

The new garden will feature:

- Shaded seating areas
- Wildlife‑friendly, climate‑resilient planting
- Spaces designed to help people relax, reflect and reconnect with nature

It will also bring people together through a new gardening club and activities focused on wellbeing and biodiversity.

We can’t wait to see this space grow 💚

Huge congratulations to our incredible runners who took on the Great Manchester Run on Sunday! 🏃‍♀️
 
It was inspiring to see so many people rise to the challenge, and we’re so proud of every single one of you. Together, our team smashed the 10K and Half Marathon, raising more than £13,600 to support services across the 🎉
