Life rarely follows a straight path.

There will be opportunities, challenges, setbacks and successes along the way.

The skills that help us navigate those experiences are often learned long before adulthood.

Confidence.
Resilience.
Teamwork.
Problem solving.
Communication.

These are the qualities that SAFES helps develop.

Which life skill do you think has been most valuable to you?

Q. How does SAFES help prepare young people for life?

A. The world is changing faster than ever before.

Young people need more than qualifications alone. They need confidence, resilience, problem-solving skills, healthy habits and the ability to work with others.

That is why the SAFES framework sits at the heart of Pathfinders UK.

Safety helps young people feel secure, valued and supported.

Adventure encourages them to embrace challenges and step beyond their comfort zones.

Fitness promotes physical and mental wellbeing.

Evolve develops confidence, leadership and personal growth.

STEM encourages curiosity, creativity and critical thinking.

Together, these five areas help young people build the skills they need not only for education and employment, but for life itself.

Through activities, challenges, volunteering and new experiences, young people learn how to adapt, communicate, solve problems and support others.

The goal is not simply to prepare young people for their next exam or job interview.

The goal is to help them become capable, resilient and confident adults who can make a positive difference in their communities and beyond.

At Pathfinders UK, SAFES is more than a framework.

It is a roadmap for personal growth and lifelong success.

Every invention started with a question.

Every breakthrough began with curiosity.

STEM encourages young people to explore, experiment and discover how the world works.

More importantly, it teaches them that finding solutions often starts with asking the right questions.

Q. Why is STEM important for young people?

A. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

These subjects shape much of the world around us. From the phones in our pockets to the bridges we cross, STEM plays a role in everyday life.

At Pathfinders UK, STEM is about much more than academic subjects. It is about developing curiosity, creativity and problem-solving skills.

Young people learn how to ask questions, explore ideas and find solutions. They discover that mistakes are often part of the learning process and that perseverance can lead to success.

STEM activities encourage innovation and critical thinking. They help young people understand how things work and inspire them to imagine how things could be improved.

Not every young person will become a scientist or engineer, and that is perfectly fine. The real value of STEM is in developing skills that can be used in almost any career or walk of life.

By encouraging curiosity and a willingness to learn, STEM helps young people prepare for a future full of opportunities.

At Pathfinders UK, we believe that every young person should have the chance to explore, create and discover.

At Pathfinders UK, we believe every young person has potential. The challenge is often helping them recognise it in themselves.

Evolve focuses on personal development, confidence, resilience and preparing for the future. It is about helping young people become the best version of themselves.

This might mean learning leadership skills, improving communication, developing independence or gaining the confidence to take on new challenges.

Growth does not happen overnight. It comes through experiences, setbacks, successes and the willingness to keep learning.

One young person may evolve by finding the confidence to speak in front of a group. Another may discover a talent they never knew they had. Someone else may develop the resilience to overcome a difficult period in their life.

The journey is different for everyone, but the goal remains the same.

To help young people leave Pathfinders UK more confident, more capable and better prepared for whatever comes next.

Because growth is not about becoming someone different.

It is about becoming more of who you are capable of being.
