Information on young carers.

Not all carers are adults.

Across Salford, many young people help care for parents, siblings or other family members.

Whether it's helping around the home, providing emotional support or taking on additional responsibilities, their contribution matters.

This Carers Week we're joining Gaddum and recognising young carers and the difference they make every day.

⭐️ This morning we have a lovely time talking all things SEND related with Parent Carers. We discussed support, Carers Assessment, school inclusion, EOTAS and much more.
We gave away gifts for everyone to remind them they need to take a break, as well as lots of tea, coffee and cakes.

Huge thank you to everyone who came, it was lovely meeting so many new parents as well as some of our regular members.

Many thanks
Viv

We are really pleased to be involved in the SEND reforms, ensuring that the voices of our families are at the heart of decisions.

If you would like to be involved, drop us an email at [email protected]. We'd love to see more Parent Carer representatives πŸ‘

We are spending Β£20 million to help children and young people get the support they need in school.

βœ… More school places for children who need extra help
βœ… Support in local schools so friends can stay together
βœ… New helpers (like speech and learning experts) for schools
βœ… A bigger, better support school for young people who need it most
βœ… Plans for a brand-new SEND school in Walkden

This means more children can learn, grow, and feel happy right here in Salford.

⭐️ Co-production in action ⭐️

Today the forum, and some of our wonderful parents, joined Salford's Educational Psychology Service to review the Removing Barriers to Education guidance. This guidance was co-produced with the Forum some time ago but we committed to reviewing this and ensure it is fit for purpose, it is written with Parent Carers, and it is working to support children and young people.

Today's session was incredibly useful and we have already agreed things to be worked on and how we can make the document work for Parent Carers as well as professionals.
Huge thank you to the parents that came, shared their views and experiences, and helped make improvements, and to Salfords Educational Psychology Service for committing to working in full co-production with SalfordPCF πŸ‘₯

More information about this will be on our webpages in the coming weeks but if you want to get involved, drop an email to EP [email protected] and she will add you to the list.
