Andy Burnham’s appointment as Prime Minister comes at a critical moment for UK international aid.

We are calling for a clear and ambitious international development strategy. Aid must be focused where needs are greatest – in fragile and conflict-affected settings such as Sudan, Gaza, Lebanon and Ukraine – and delivered through strong, long-term partnerships with local organisations.

At a time when aid is increasingly politicised, UK leadership is needed to make the case for international development as both a moral responsibility and a strategic investment in global stability and the UK’s standing in the world.
