Please do not put big items in the bins at Calgary as the bin lorry can not cope with them and we are likely to loose them due to them being abused. The bins are very much appreciated there so if you have large items take them to the dump in Tobermory. These were removed at the weekend (x4 garden planters packaging from Dervaig).

Lovely day at Uisken Seashell Saunters with Dr John Faithfull, thanks to everyone who came along. Scroll through the photos to see all the different types of shells we found, and look out for this event coming to another beach on the Ross of Mull later in the summer! Mull and Iona Community Trust

Just a gentle reminder for all wildlife watchers on Mull. Please think of the species you are trying to watch and think about their needs before those of your own. Each species deserves space to thrive so consider this before getting too close.
Passing places are just that and are not to be parked up in, in order to watch a key species. Please find alternative safe places to pull off the road.
Enjoy Mull and Iona’s wildlife but give it the respect it deserves.

Felling in Aros Park

Forestry and Land Scotland contractors are planning to commence tree felling operations toward end of May 2026 and into early June 2026 (see map 1 Aerial) . To facilitate this work, they will have to close the Aros Park driveway to public vehicle and pedestrian access to minimise interaction with HGVs and to safeguard Machine Safety Zones.
With that in mind , FLS would advise any visiting public to consider using the waterfall car park where parking is required or seek alternative pedestrian routes into Aros Park for the duration of the works.

FLS anticipate this closure of the driveway will be for a period of 7-10 days . They also hope to tidy up and chip wind damaged debris located adjacent to the driveway during these works.
Third Party Access – Those with servitude rights of access will be permitted vehicular access to Aros Park as required.
At present weekend working is not anticipated.
From the map attached you can see two areas marked “Clearfell” in the Northern area of the park. These are being felled and the new road will facilitate machine access to these crops allowing us to harvest the last of the Sitka Spruce in that portion of Aros Park. Thereafter these areas will return to policy woodland incorporating broadleaved species.
There will be some impact on recreational access for that period however going forward the work reduces the long term impacts on the Park with no commercial forestry remaining in those sections.
