Mull and Iona Ranger Service The Ranger Service offers opportunities for members of the public to join in a wide range of events.

These may be community events; walks, talks and fun activities for children. The Mull and Iona Ranger Service provides:

A warm welcome to our islands of Mull and Iona


An information service, to locals and visitors alike, on all countryside matters such as walks, fishing, wildlife, cycling, access and camping

An opportunity to share in the knowledge of the cultural and natural heritage of our islands through guided walks, talks and outdoor activities

An ongoing process of planning and monitoring of all recreational facilities and access opportunities so that we can best meet the needs of locals and visitors

And a liaison service between land managers and public users

New outdoor session for 0-5 year olds and their parents/carers at the Ross of Mull Community garden on Monday mornings. Today we were tasting autumn fruits and threading flowers and berries onto necklaces, digging potatoes and enjoying some songs and a puppet show from Jessica. It was great to have a couple of mums and babies along as well as four children from the nursery too.

🎭 IN THE WINGS: DELICATE HABITAT

Saturday 3 October | 3pm
📍 Mull Theatre

Join us for a sharing of Delicate Habitat, a new piece of theatre from Highlands-based director Laura Walker, exploring our relationship with the environment through physical theatre, storytelling and myth.

The performance will be followed by a Q&A and discussion, giving you the chance to meet the artists, hear more about the work and get a behind-the-scenes look at how new theatre is developed and devised.

🌱 Delicate Habitat began its development journey at Dundreggan Rewilding Centre and is now continuing its development with Mull Theatre and Lyth Arts Centre, with support from these venues and Creative Scotland.

MINK ALERT.Updated
We are getting lots of reports of mink being spotted, this is the time of the year when youngsters leave their families to find their own territories. Your poultry are no longer safe. If you already have traps please set them around your poultry.
During the time of the Mull Mink Project we have distributed lots of traps and am sure many are sitting in sheds not used. It would be great to be able to re distribute these traps to people who could use them either to protect poultry or ground nesting birds. If you have traps in the Ross please contact [email protected] or up north ,[email protected] or leave a message here.
Presently we have no traps and need those not being used to be returned, we also can not give out traps unless the person we give them to has a method of dispatching the mink humanely, minimum .22 air gun or air pistol and for that you need a licence.The main point of this post was to warn people about the increased activity of mink. Mink traps can be purchased from Amazon from £12 upwards
