Friends of Walton Park, Sale Friends of Walton Park, Sale Walton Park is a valuable green space in Sale, Cheshire.

The Friends of Walton Park group was formed by local residents in February 2005 with the aim of restoring our park back to its former glory, after many years of neglect. Our goal was to make the group as inclusive as possible with a view to engaging with local residents and park users to formulate a Walton Park 'masterplan'. We carry out extensive consultations through meetings, questionnaires and

by talking to people at our regular events such as our Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Ghost Train night, and Summer Fun Day. We hope that by delivering our vision for Walton Park we can help to promote a real sense of ownership and generate genuine community spirit.

Hats and gloves at the ready for the Easter Sunday Fun Day in Walton Park tomorrow. Fairground rides will be running from late morning followed by trains from midday and tombolas and Easter Egg Hunt from 1pm. Wrap up and warm up in the park. Walton Perk is stocked and ready for your refreshment. See you there!

The Easter Sunday Fun Day is ON! Sunday 5 April 2026, Walton Park, Sale. Free entry to the park, fairground rides, inflatables, trains, Easter Egg Hunt, tombolas, brew boat, refreshments - a family event open to all. Come and join us in the park!!

The schedule for volunteer gardening sessions in 2026 is out now. Sessions are open to everyone - just turn up with appropriate clothing and sturdy boots. The gardening group do a fantastic job of keeping our park looking its best - and you could be part of it. Something to consider after Christmas maybe! Cheers, FoWP

We are delighted to announce that the FoWP gardening group has been awarded “Outstanding Level 5” by RHS Britain in Bloom Northwest.

This is the second year they have achieved the highest ranking and FoWP would like to thank the gardening volunteers for all their hard work and dedication to making our park beautiful.

Also big thanks to Walton Perk for advertising donations and all our regular contributors - we couldn't do it without the funding you provide.

The FoWP gardening group is open to everyone, experienced or not, so if you'd like to join in they are normally in the park at 10am every Tuesday and the first Sunday of the month. You can do as little or as often as you want.

Thanks to everyone who attended the Halloween event yesterday. It was a wonderful family atmosphere with everyone enjoying spooky train rides and fairground fun. The next event will be the SAMES Santa Run on Saturday 13 December. Cheers, FoWP

If you're joining us for scary ghost train fun this evening remember to bring a torch because it gets very dark in the park. And hold on to your little ones because it gets quite busy. There will be refreshments in the park and at Walton Perk. Trains will start around 4pm but the fairground rides will be open earlier. See you there!
