🐝 PROUD BEEKEEPER MOMENT! 🐝
This time two years ago, I put up a post asking if anyone fancied volunteering with me to learn the art and science of beekeeping.
The deal was simple: I’d provide the theory, practical training and experience, and in return they’d lend a hand with the bees when needed.
That post led me to Rowanna Jones and Miranda Rutley — and I’m not sure either of them quite realised what they were signing up for! 😂🐝
Over the last two years, they’ve devoted an incredible amount of time to learning, supporting, maintaining and helping increase the number of bees in our area.
As part of their training, towards the end of their second year I asked them both to take the BBKA Basic Assessment to formally recognise the knowledge and practical skills they’ve developed.
Today, we got the last of the results back…
🎉🐝 Rowanna achieved a CREDIT and Miranda achieved a DISTINCTION! 🐝🎉
I genuinely can’t express how proud I am.
I feel incredibly lucky not only to have met these two amazing ladies, but now to have them, their knowledge and their skills alongside me managing our bees.
And to the families who have now officially become beekeeping widows… my apologies. 😂
