Whether you’re a dad, grandad, step‑dad, or simply the person people turn to for a bit of wisdom and a laugh — today we honour you. Thanks for the stories, the skills, the support, and the craic that make our Shed such a special place.

Father’s Day reminds us how important strong role models and good community spirit really are. The way our members look out for one another — offering a hand, sharing knowledge, and creating a welcoming space for everyone who walks through the door — is what keeps the heart of the Shed beating.

Saintfield Men’s Shed members had a fantastic evening at Castlewellan Castle, joining men from across County Down for an inspiring and enjoyable Men’s Health Week event.

The night focused on promoting healthier lifestyles—physically and mentally. Through fun, hands‑on activities, participants explored practical ways to support their wellbeing.

The atmosphere was brilliant from start to finish: great energy, plenty of punches on the pads, loads of laughter. It was uplifting to see men of all ages coming together, supporting one another, sharing experiences, and building new friendships.

A big thank‑you to County Down Rural Community Network for inviting us along.

It’s important to remember that small changes, one step at a time, really are possible.

Excited to be heading to the Men’s Health Week event at Castlewellan Castle tonight (Thursday 11th June) from 6pm–9:30pm. A few of the Saintfield Men’s Shed lads will be there, chatting with men of all ages about taking small steps toward better health and wellbeing. It’s a brilliant chance to meet new people, have a relaxed evening, and enjoy the atmosphere. Hope to see plenty of you there tonight!

Happy 80th Birthday, Mervyn.

All of us in the Saintfield Men’s Shed are absolutely delighted to celebrate this brilliant milestone with you. It means a lot that you’ve chosen to spend your special day here with your Shed pals — sharing stories, laughs, and plenty of good craic. Your skill in crafting those wee cottages and churches always amazes us, and the place just wouldn’t be the same without you keeping us organised as our much‑loved tea‑break manager.
