As I do not live in Orkney anymore, the Hope Action Group is now not in my direct interest. Is there anyone in South Ronaldsay or Burray interested in taking over the action group in order to further the interests in the local community. Please contact me through the group page or email [email protected] where we can carry out a handover of the administration to the group page. David.

Just a wee "heads up” for South Ronaldsay and Burray folk. Did anyone notice in "The Orcadian” last week a small paragraph in the OIC budget section. This is where a vote was taken whether to close the re-cycle centre at the top of The Hope. Two votes were taken before it was passed to keep it open for the time being. However this will come up again and next time we might not be so lucky. Was anyone who lives in Burray or South Ron. informed of the vote or the agenda? Who are these people voting to take away a service to the islands? Where do they live? Not down here that’s a fact. Not only do we have the lack of interest, Lack of investment, Lack of effective sea wall protection, Lack of street cleaners, Lack of bus shelter but now an attempt to have “Lack of waste re-cycling” Does anyone really want to have to take their household and garden waste all the way to Kirkwall. The question should be asked why are we Islands on "The Edge”. Why are we been “Marginalised"
