St. Erth Vintage Bike Ride

St. Erth Vintage Bike Ride A fun family event cycling in period or fancy dress around the country lanes of St. Erth and Hayle. We created the St. Erth Christmas lights.

Erth Vintage Bike ride as a fun family event that helps us raise badly needed funds for the renovation maintenance & operating costs of the St. We are amazed by the vintage and custom bikes that attend each year but you don't need such a bike to take part, just come along in some vintage clothing or fancy dress to enjoy a fun relaxed day out returning to Live Music, BBQ and Refreshments as well as judging and presentation of the famous Golden Pedals trophies.

TODAY IS THE DAY!!

The "St. Erth Vintage Bicycle Ride" will be held today Saturday the 10th of September 2022 from 13:30.

A thoroughly jolly good day is to be had by one and all with a leisurely 4 Β½ mile ride, taking in the pleasant surroundings of St. Erth Village and the River bank, after which we will make our way towards Hayle with a short stop at the "Bird in Hand" Inn to wet the whistle.

From the "Bird in Hand" we route through Hayle via the historically industrious Foundry Hill and Lane, returning to St. Erth via the Causeway cycle path and Water Lane.

The event Route map route can be found here: http://goo.gl/maps/CthvI

We strongly encourage the use of vintage attire and bicycles for all riders of all ages (although this is not compulsory) and after the event we will be awarding the prestigious "Golden Pedals" trophies (kindly created by our sponsors) for the following classes:

β€’ Best Gentleman
β€’ Best Lady
β€’ Best Junior
β€’ Best Custom Bike

Event registration (signing of our boring legal "mumbo jumbo" waiver) for all participants will be held at The Old School Rooms (next to Church), St. Erth from 13:30, the entrance fee is Β£4 per adult rider and Β£2 per child.

The "St. Erth Vintage Bicycle Ride" will be commencing at approx. 15:00 (hopefully earlier pending completion of registration) with all riders returning to The Old School Rooms at approx. 17:00, shortly after we will be class judging and the awarding of the prestigious "Golden Pedals Trophies".

We will top off the event with Live Music from 6pm(ish) by the fabulous "Sandy Acre 7" https://www.facebook.com/thesandyacre7

Please note, those participating with young children are recommended to only ride the shorter 1/2 loop from The Old School Rooms to Green Lane then onto the River bank and back to the Old School Rooms, the ride is approx. 30 mins and without incline although parents / guardians must exercise extreme caution whilst riding along the river bank to avoid any unplanned watery interactions, the main group will then proceed to Hayle and should be returning between approx 1 1/2 Hrs later around 17:00.

At The Old School Rooms we will host a Bar with home cooked food from approx. 17:00 and live music, so a great opportunity to admire the selection of vintage Bicycles and attire whilst wetting the whistle and swapping stories of the days heroic endurance ride.

If the weather is forecast to be rather inclement, then the ride will be cancelled so please check back or call on the day.

For more details message us on facebook.

All proceeds raised through the event will be used for restoration and running of the St. Erth Christmas Lights with the grand turn on taking place for all this December.

St Erth Vintage Bike Ride (VBR) Committee

The St Erth Christmas lights committee send condolences to the Royal Family on the very sad loss of our beloved Queen.

After much consideration and in line with the guidance of national and local government, we have decided to continue with the VBR.

We appreciate that this will be a personal choice, and for those who wish to attend, it will be a pleasure to see you there.

Please feel free to express mourning by wearing a black armband or similar.

We will be holding a minute’s silence in honour of our Queen before the start of the event.

We have just been told by Chris from The Sandy Acre 7 that he is kindly donating some of his vintage and custom bikes (pictured below) to be auctioned off at the event in aid of the St. Erth Christmas Lights funds.

We'll run the auction just before the bands set so bring your hard-earned cash along to snap up a vintage or custom classic.

Thank you, Chris!! πŸ‘
