First night of the year kayaking!!! A local business Fowey River Hire has been so kind in supporting us with access to boats. Your support to our young people is incredible, thank you.

Summary from PO Fildes:
A fantastic night tonight our first boating for the season, 7 cadets ventured out into the dull waters of fowey Harbour, 7 returned with smiles on their faces! Amazing effort by all who have now sucessfully earned their Paddle Start Certificate. Paddle Start is the first step in Kayaking which teaches the basics allowing cadets the opportunity to experience paddle sports focusing on basic skills and safety. Big shout out to Steve the swan and our District Officer LtCdr Nash without his assistance it would not have been possible tonight.

What does being in Sea Cadets mean to you? I have been a cadet since 10 years old. Cadets is a big part of my childhood. Sea Cadets has taught me so many life skills, helped me gain employment, made lifelong friends. I met so many members of the royal family during my cadet career which are opportunities I would not have been given outside of sea cadets. I enjoy spending time with young people and supporting them to achieve.

What does being in Sea Cadets mean to me?Being in Sea Cadets means a lot to me because itโ€™s given me the opportunity to help others grow. As a First Aid instructor, I really enjoy teaching and supporting cadets, and itโ€™s incredibly rewarding to see them build confidence and develop their skills. I love being able to guide them and watch them grow into themselves, and it genuinely makes me proud when they achieve something theyโ€™re passionate about. For me, itโ€™s not just about what Iโ€™ve gained - itโ€™s about being able to give back and make a positive difference to others.

A huge well done to PO Hollie Winnett on completing her first ever 5K on Sunday! ๐ŸŽ‰

Taking on a new challenge takes determination, commitment, and courage, and Hollie smashed it. Crossing that finish line and earning that medal is a fantastic achievement and the start of what could be many more running successes to come.

Weโ€™re incredibly proud of your effort and dedication. Enjoy the well-earned medal and celebrate this milestoneโ€”youโ€™ve earned it! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช
