Three more community screenings of the People's Emergency Briefing are coming up shortly in and around Falmouth.

In this powerful National Emergency Briefing film, leading UK scientists explain the climate and nature crisis. They reveal the latest evidence and what it means for food security, health, extreme weather, and the cost of living.

Afterwards take part in a conversation to reflect on the challenges we're all facing and talk about what action you can take in your own community.

We highly recommend you come to one of these special community screenings, many hosted by Cornwall Climate Action Network's grassroots member groups and organisations.

🌍 New Global Justice report offers hope 🌱

Humanity can raise living standards, reduce inequality and keep global heating within a 2C rise, according to a sweeping vision for planetary survival.

The report by the World Inequality Lab (WIL) aims to be the most comprehensive attempt yet to navigate the polycrisis that is pushing the world toward climate breakdown, political extremism and ever greater economic and social tension..

β€œIt offers a set of bold policy proposals, including hefty wealth taxes on billionaires, sharp reductions in working hours, a change in diets and a shift of investment from materially intense sectors, such as industry and mining, to education and health.”

β€œIf these and other measures are taken, the report says, the incomes of 89% of the world’s population would double by 2100 and global heating would be kept below 2C above the preindustrial average.

The authors say their vision provides a positive alternative to the grim projections from far-right techno extractivists, nationalists and billionaires who claim the future will inevitably bring more fossil fuels, climate disruption and inequality.”

β€œThe ideology which we see with [Donald] Trump and all the little Trumps that we have all across Europe and all across the world is simply not going to deliver. At the end of the day we’ll have to come to this kind of cooperative redistribution of resources and power because the alternative will simply lead to disastrous outcomes both on the environment, on the climate, but also on social grounds.” - Thomas Piketty

DMS Offshore Racing promised us dolphins! And here they are....thank you to the crew for filming this...such a magical moment in time captured on camera. 🐬

Connecting people, young and old, to the beauty of the natural environment (that we are part of) is key to inspiring people to also protect it. 🌿

Our education workshops continue to give our young people hope for the future - learning and gaining skills that give them agency...its thanks to the support of people like DMS Vinyl who understand how important our work is that we can keep going!

πŸ‘‹ Its quick and easy to sign... Packham’s petition for government to stage a UK-wide briefing on the climate & nature crisis has passed the 10,000 milestone in less than 24 hours and your help is needed to get it to 100,000 to secure a parliamentary debate - please share widely!
https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/767687

And if you haven't seen it yet, check out a screening near you of the National Emergency Briefing - the climate & nature crisis threatens all aspects of British life from national security to food supply, but solutions exist... we need to get together and make them happen...supported by strong leadership from our government.
https://www.nebriefing.org/

The UK faces growing risks from climate and nature breakdown - from extreme weather to economic disruption and national security threats. Yet the public has never been given a clear national briefing on the scale of these risks. Government should hold an emergency briefing from leading experts.

Another wonderful evening watching Beyond Bricks on the big screen! 🎬✨

Massive thanks to our brilliant panellists Eloise (Langarth), Simon (Wadebridge Renewable Energy Network - WREN) and to the Wadebridge community who stayed for a passionate discussion about local housing challenges – its complex and there is no magical answer but the more we talk, the more we can do πŸ‘πŸ’¬

In summary our housing system needs a proper rethink that works for locals and newcomers, keeping the balance in our towns and villages, and protecting the environment. 🌍🏘️ Imagine smaller, eco-friendly homes, well-connected to everything you need – all designed and built by folks who care about people and the planet, not just profit. We talked about daring to dream big and reimagining what’s possibleπŸ’‘πŸŒ±

A big thank you to Robert & the crew at Regal Cinema Wadebridge – if you haven’t visited yet, you’re missing out! A proper gem of a cinema with bags of heart. 🍿❀️

If you would like to host a community screening in your area, please get in touch!
