Wishing you all a good summer break - whatever that looks like for you and your family.

As everyone at HPCI is a parent carer of a child (or children!) with SEND, we'll be spending time with them over the next few weeks. But we'll be back at it in September.

In the meantime, you can always send feedback via our website: https://tinyurl.com/HPCIFeedback

We finish our week of reflections on the last year focussing on the PINS project.

We worked with families and teachers to help make schools more inclusive for their neurodivergent pupils. We also produced a leaflet for parents about Ordinarily Available Provision and Reasonable Adjustments.

Stay tuned for an update next week on what lies in store for HPCI after the school holidays.

You may have seen today’s announcement that the Government plans to split Hertfordshire into four new unitary authorities from 2028.

We know that this change will raise lots of questions and concerns for families. HPCI is already working to make sure that children and young people with SEND stay at the centre of every discussion about how services might change — both in the lead‑up to 2028 and once the new councils are in place.

We’ll set out more detail about the changes, and our work to influence these, in a future newsletter. You can sign up to receive these here: https://bit.ly/4uLd6n7

Changes to Hertfordshire councils confirmed ✅

The government has announced its decision on the future of Hertfordshire’s councils as part of its Local Government Reorganisation programme.

From April 2028, the existing 11 county, district and borough councils across Hertfordshire will be replaced by four unitary authorities.

Nothing is changing for now; the services we deliver will continue as normal. Behind the scenes, we will be working closely with the other Hertfordshire councils to lay the groundwork for the new authorities. We will share further updates over the coming weeks and months as more details are confirmed.

Day four of our end‑of‑year round‑up is all about saying thank you.

We’re so grateful to the brilliant organisations we work with — the ones who support families across Hertfordshire and those who represent parent carers at a national level. Their insight helps us understand the experiences of as many families as possible, and we couldn’t do our work without them.

You can find a list of the amazing Hertfordshire groups we work with on our website: https://tinyurl.com/HPCIPartners

Together, we make sure family voices are heard.

Today, in our end of year round up, we're looking at how we use your feedback. This year HPCI reps spent 1349 hours representing families. That is the same as watching 899 World Cup matches — every match of 14 full tournaments!
