As opposed to our last, slightly more controversial post, we want to thank everyone that came out last night to support local live music at our Live & Local night with Mix 92.6!

It was great to host three incredible local acts in Groovy Shirt Club, Dead Colours and The Pedals, and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

A big shout out to Ben Richardson for doing an amazing job on the sound.

Really hate seeing this, another tour cancelled due to low ticket sales!

Instead of spending hundreds/thousands of pounds to watch an artist on a big screen at the back of a gargantuan soulless arena, why not spend around a tenth of that seeing the next big thing (or in this case an old school favourite) at your local grassroots music venue, a place where your money will go back into the music ecosystem and also help support the local music scene.

We are backing the VATS THE PROBLEM CAMPAIGN

For years our industry has been taxed to bankruptcy.

This campaign will immediately provide support not only to pubs but also to hospitality businesses across St Albans and the UK

Do you want to back your favourite venue, help your high street and support local jobs? Then sign our petition to lower the rate of VAT for hospitality to 10%.

Our pubs, restaurants, cafes, hotels, nightclubs and many more, are at the heart of our communities.

They bring people together and bring life to our cities, towns and villages, but they’re under huge pressure from rising costs.

In the UK, you pay one of the highest VAT rates in Europe. 20% extra in VAT for your meal out or stay away. In France, Spain and Italy, it’s 10%. In Germany? 7%.

Our message to Government is simple. Let’s stand together to say VAT at 10% is fair for hospitality.

This week at Pioneer is all about new music!

This Thursday we host three local bands alongside Steve at Mix 92.6 and his Live and Local show. Catch Groovy Shirt Club, Dead Colours and The Pedals. Doors at 7pm

Then on Saturday a more gritty, urban vibe takes over as Stephen Mathes brings his 'World of the Sound' immersive show to Pioneer!

Both events are all ages (U18s must be accompanied) so it's a great opportunity to show the next generation what's on offer right on their doorstep!
