Joy is the second child in our project to reach university level, our second girl to graduate, and she did it in style—finishing as the top student of her class with a prestigious Arts award! 🏆🎨
Joy, massive congratulations from all of us. We know you will achieve your biggest dreams, and we will be standing right beside you, cheering you on every single step of the way. 💖
Turning the Dial on Education in Africa 🌍📈
We are incredibly proud that our first two university graduates are young women. In fact, the majority of our incredible staff in Nigeria and our dedicated volunteers have always been women. They are changing the world, and they deserve every single opportunity to shine with equality and dignity.
Thanks to your generosity, we are truly changing the narrative:
📊 Our Impact: Out of an average of 43 children under our guardianship in recent years, 12 have reached university level. That is 28% of our children—and that number is growing!
🌍 The Context: While the higher education average across Africa sits at just 9% (and only 7–9% for girls), we are actively working toward the 43% global average.

🎄✨ Christmas is approaching! ✨🎁
And we’re coming together to bring a little extra joy to our children 🇳🇬 ❤️

Our dedicated volunteers are organizing two wonderful, connected events to support our children in Nigeria in the coming holiday season.

Christmas Gift Shoeboxes 🎁

We are preparing our annual Christmas gift shoeboxes, which must ship by early November to ensure they arrive in time for the holidays. We still have a few children’s names left on our list—if you would like to pack a shoebox for a child, please message us as soon as possible to claim a name!

The Annual Feijoada Charity Dinner
In early November, we will also host our highly anticipated annual Brazilian Dinner featuring Feijoada—a rich, traditional Brazilian black bean stew. This incredibly popular event sells out every single year, with 100% of the ticket proceeds directly funding the shipping costs for our Christmas shoeboxes.

From vulnerable beginnings to a beautiful, independent life!✨

It is amazing to see how far our beautiful daughter, Angela, has come. At a very young age, she and her younger sister went through unimaginable hardships before finding a safe haven and a family with Way to the Nations.

Through it all, they persevered. With your support, both sisters went to school and reached university! In fact, Angela became the very first child in our centre to graduate from university. 🇨🇦🎓

Her journey didn’t stop there. She courageously moved to another state, far from home and everyone she knew, to complete a one-year government work-experience program. When she returned, we helped her secure a teaching position at a private school close to home. Today, she is renting her own flat, managing her own space, and thriving as an independent young woman.

We could not be prouder! ❤️
A MASSIVE and SPECIAL thank you to Priscila. 🙏 Priscila didn’t just sponsor Angela through her entire educational journey; she became a mother figure, a mentor, and a true friend. Even now, Priscila and her mum have stepped up to help Angela furnish and set up her new flat.

Update on our Son Christopher 🚛

He was just a young teenager when he was rescued. It would be a long and sad story to tell in detail what he and his brother went through after the stigma.

But with us he started to dream again. His first big dream was to be a footballer and he joined a team in Eket that recognised his talent. But football as we all know is a very difficult to develop a career. So, Chris got on with his studies, ended up in high education and graduated in Public Administration. Didn’t find a suitable job in that field.

Then he was considering to set up a business and our team and his sponsors were getting ready to help him when, suddenly he found a new passion: He found in his hear a deep desire to become a large lorry driver.

We were very surprise. It was not exactly what we had though for him and we were even considering to bring him under WN wings in the future for projects but first we wanted to get him out there, to face the world and learn different things, see different angles.

Then we thought, driving through Nigeria this boy will learn so much about his country. With that knowledge paired with his Public Admin studies, we never know where he will end up!

He is know almost finishing a year and a half of training to become that driver he has been dreaming of and he is so happy about it! 🚛💙

Recently we had this amazing surprise.

Our friend and filmmaker Lucca Bertollini sent a text saying: Our documentary is on Amazon Prime!’

We confess we did not even know that this was a possibility.

Two years ago, Lucca fell in love with our mission. He voluntarily spent countless hours combing through Leo’s old hard drives to tell our story. After hitting the film festival circuit, a distribution company picked it up, and it is now live on Prime!

We are immensely grateful for Lucca’s passion and hard work. Thanks to him, we now have an incredible tool to showcase our 16 years of work supporting children in Nigeria.

There were moments when we genuinely thought we couldn’t go any further, but we kept going 🥹

Primeiro gostaria de agradecer imensamente à .martins.40 e
por organizarem mais uma festa tão gostosa para todos nós e também por criarem mais um fundraising que levantou aproximadamente £300 para o orphanato e mais £300 para ajudar na cadeira de rodas do Vicente no Brasil.
Muito obrigado também a todos que participaram do jantar, trouxeram tantos pratos maravilhosos para todos matamos um pouquinho da saudade do Brasil e também por sua generosidade comprando as rifas no nosso fundraising.
