What a lovely day out yesterday!

We started the day at St Albans Abbey station for the unveiling of the beautiful memorial wreath before travelling along the Abbey Line to Bricket Wood to the Bricket Wood Tea Rooms for some yummy sandwiches, a spot of tea, plenty of chat and a chance to catch up with friends.

A special well done to our Create and Craft ladies particularly Simona & Ali for all their hard work creating this wonderful wreath as our little tribute to Dementia Awareness Week a couple of weeks ago. It was lovely to see the ladies recognised for all their hard work, creativity and dedication in putting it together. πŸ’™πŸŒΌ

Days like these are so important, not only for bringing people together but also for giving us the opportunity to provide valuable feedback to help ensure rail travel is accessible, inclusive and welcoming for everyone. Having our voices heard helps make a real difference for disabled passengers and those with additional needs.

A huge thank you to Abbey Line Community Rail Partnership , The Tea Room Bricket Wood and Kate Swindells again for inviting us and for continuing to listen to the experiences of our community. We always appreciate being involved and helping to shape more accessible travel for all.

We had a fantastic time and can't wait for our next trip together! πŸš†β˜•πŸ©·

πŸš‰ Recently, some of our Leeanna's Wish members enjoyed a "Try the Train" trip along the Abbey Line. These trips give our members the opportunity to build confidence using public transport, while sharing valuable feedback on accessibility and any challenges they may face when travelling.

By working together and sharing lived experiences, we can help make journeys more accessible and inclusive for everyone. Most importantly, we had a wonderful day together filled with plenty of laughter along the way! 🩷

A huge thank you to Abbey Line Community Rail Partnership, the fantastic staff and the supportive conductor who helped make the journey such a positive experience. Special thanks to Kate Swindells and our volunteers for organising and accompanying these trips and making them possible for our members. And of course, thank you to the team at The Tea Room, Bricket Wood, for the lovely sandwiches, tea and warm welcome afterwards. β˜•πŸ₯ͺ🩷

Today we're looking forward to our next trip with our Create & Craft ladies! Before setting off, we'll be unveiling their beautiful handmade Forget Me Not wreath at St Albans Abbey Station. The wreath was created to mark Dementia Awareness Week back in May and serves as a lovely reminder of the importance of awareness, understanding and inclusion. 🩡

Here's a little sneak peek of the wreath β€” keep an eye out for the finished wreath if you're passing through the station, and look out for photos from today's unveiling and trip coming soon! ✨
