In May 2026, we surveyed St Albans BID businesses to understand levy payers’ views.

The survey, which included questions about awareness of the BID, its work, and its future direction, received 187 responses: 57.6% from independent businesses and 42.4% from multinational businesses.

The findings show 89.3% of respondents confirmed they are aware of the BID and our activities. Other results show that 65% of businesses support a third term.

These findings informed the 2027-2032 Business Plan, which sets out the next five years for St Albans City Centre BID.

Summer Fire Safety Guidance

With the current high risk of wildfires across Hertfordshire, businesses are encouraged to support the temporary fire safety measures issued by Hertfordshire County Council.

If your business sells any of the following items, please make customers aware of the guidance and help promote responsible use during this period:

• Disposable barbecues
• Fire pits
• Garden incinerators
• Chimeneas
• Fireworks

To help prevent accidental fires, residents and visitors are being asked not to use these items at present, as even a small spark or flame can quickly spread and cause significant damage.

Thank you for helping to keep our communities, businesses and green spaces safe.

🔗 Read the full guidance from Hertfordshire County Council:
https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/services/fire-and-rescue/home-fire-safety/summer-fire-safety.aspx

Across the country there have been more than 1,000 wildfires already this year, the highest number on record.
One spark can have devastating consequences. Please do not to use disposable barbecues, fire pits, garden incinerators or fireworks at this time. Even a small flame can spread rapidly and lead to a serious wildfire, putting people, property and the environment at risk.

🍻 The St Albans Pub Map Is Out Now

Our brand-new St Albans Pub Map is now available across the city, helping residents and visitors discover even more of St Albans' fantastic pub scene.

Featuring 36 pubs from across the district, the map showcases a diverse mix of venues and includes useful information such as dog-friendly pubs, pubs with parking, and the best spots for enjoying a drink outdoors. It's designed to encourage people to explore different areas of St Albans and support venues they may not have visited before.

You can pick up a copy from participating pubs, the Visitor Information Centre, and other locations across the city centre, making it easy for customers to plan their next pub visit.
