We are just days away from celebrating Alban Day Festival and Pilgrimage on Saturday 20th June.

Alban Day is the annual city-wide celebration and pilgrimage in St Albans honoring St Alban, Britain's first saint and martyr. Held every summer in June, the event features a vibrant carnival procession with 12-foot puppets, a historical festival, and special services at St Albans Cathedral.

St Albans BID has exciting activities planned in the Civic Centre Plaza from 10am- 4pm.

We look forward to seeing you there 😁

Alban Day Road Closures from 10:30 till 12:15

St Albans BID, in partnership with St Albans Cathedral, is preparing to welcome thousands of visitors into the city this Saturday 20 June (10am–4pm) for the Alban Day Pilgrimage and Festival – one of the city’s most striking and well-attended annual events.

The centrepiece of the day is the Alban Day Pilgrimage Procession, which will:
Set off from St Peter’s Church
Travel through the city centre
Finish at St Albans Cathedral

Led by dramatic 12-foot puppets, the procession tells the story of Britain’s first saint and attracts strong footfall along its route. It is free to watch and designed to be experienced across the city.

🚧 Key information: road closures
To support the procession safely:
Rolling road closures will be in place from 10:30am to 12:15pm
Closures are marked in red on the map
The procession route is shown in green

Roads will close as the procession passes and reopen shortly after

What this means for businesses
Expect temporary access restrictions for vehicles along the route
Plan deliveries, staffing and travel outside the closure window where possible
Increased footfall and dwell time as visitors follow the procession through the city

👉 Please refer to the attached map to understand how your location may be affected and plan ahead.

Our Pub Map is making its mark across St Albans 🍻🗺️

Following the fantastic initial response, it’s great to see so many of our Pub Maps now out at venues across the city.

Featuring 36 brilliant pubs, the map highlights key details including dog-friendly spots, pubs with parking, and those perfect for soaking up the sunshine with outdoor seating. It’s all about helping people explore more of what St Albans has to offer and encouraging visits to venues they might not have tried before.

If you haven’t already, make sure your team has copies available at the pubs listed below or view the online version here:

We’ve recently created a new professional image library for St Albans City Centre BID, capturing the city in full colour during the summer months.

Working with Mike Dick photographyhe has perfectly captured the vibrancy of St Albans in summer. range of BID initiatives—from vibrant floral displays and bunting to evening lighting and street scenes—showcasing the character and energy of the city centre. We now have 257 professionally edited images to support our communications.

We’re especially pleased to have some lovely shots of the High Street and George Street, along with standout evening photography that captures the atmosphere after dark.

A big thank you to Mike for delivering such high-quality results.
