After several months planning and scoping work, this week we welcomed a team of volunteers from Sky Studios, together with their partners CBRE and Cawley Waste Management to commence the transformation of the garden at the BECC!
The Sky Studios team had essentially offered to do a mini ‘DIY SOS’ project, volunteering their time, materials and resources, so we can start to use the garden again for the rest of the Summer and for years to come, having previously been closed due to condemned play equipment. Not only is this great for the families using the services of the BECC, it is also a positive for the local community to come in, buy a coffee from the café and enjoy a pleasant outside space to drink it in!
Part 1 was clearance of old and broken toys and clearing the weeds and leaves, pressure washing the old benches, paving and play equipment, cutting back the trees, and repairing the equipment where needed. The first skip was filled within an hour with the second en route…
