Copies of our 60th anniversary anthology, "A Staircase in Mid-Air", are available from the Publications page of our website (see link in the comment below). It brings together poems by members new and old from across the country, complemented by contributions from each of the highly respected poets who have judged the Ver Poets Open Competition during the past ten years. There are new poems by Andrew McMillan, John McCullough and Tamar Yoseloff.

'Versatile and vibrant commemorating the wonder of poetry, here is a selection of poems that offers good company whatever mood you are in. I applaud the editors for such a fine achievement.' Shanta Acharya

'For those eager to experience the vigour of contemporary poetry, this collection of writing by members of Ver Poets and more famous names is recommended reading.' Martyn Crucefix

'The poems in this anthology are sensitively grouped to create an inviting pathway of contrasts and affinities. "Bountiful clusters, dark inky treasure" — the poetic voices and moods, the illuminating ideas and evocations to be discovered in these pages.' Jane Duran

'Sixty years is nothing in the realm of poetry and even less in St Albans, where you can still hear the echoes of homesick Romans reciting Horace and Virgil. But the sexagennial celebration of the modern city's Ver Poets is really quite something. A mosaic of new pieces by poets familiar and unfamiliar, always readable, frequently surprising — prepare to be conquered!' John Greening

'This anthology embraces the art of poetry as a vibrant, curious, ongoing journey. It offers moments of stunning insight, flashes of surprise and delightful invention.' Vanessa Lampert
