Anyone can use our foodbanks, you don't need to be getting benefits or meet other criteria. If you can't get a foodbank voucher in advance, please still pop along to one of our foodbanks and our Wellbeing Team can help you. While you're there, they can also offer more support, advice and referrals. Please share with anyone who may need to use the foodbank within St Albans & District. Thank you.

🧡ST ALBANS ACTION FOR HOMELESS – YOU HELP MAKE A HOUSE A HOME🧡

Back in June, we were approached by Housing and asked if we could help two siblings who were being relocated to a lovely new flat. As it turned out, they were people we both knew, so of course, we were more than happy to help! 🏡

Our aim was to help turn their new flat into a home, so we provided some furniture and all those little bits and bobs that make a house feel welcoming and comfortable.

We also covered the cost of their carpets. For two young siblings starting out, having to find the money for carpets on top of everything else would have been a huge ask.

Thankfully, a kind carpet fitter fitted their carpets at a very reduced rate, and as you can see from the pictures, they have done an absolutely fantastic job! 👏❤️

We wanted to share this with you because we believe in being transparent about where your donations go. When you donate to St Albans Action for Homeless , your money doesn't just sit in an account. It goes towards making a real, practical difference to people's lives.

And we're not stopping there! We're now moving on to help a young mum who is coming to us from a refuge. We'll be supporting her with furniture and carpets to help her and her family settle into their new home and begin the next chapter of their lives.

You might not always see everything we do, but please know that St Albans Action for Homeless is always here, quietly working behind the scenes to support people who need a helping hand. 🧡

Every donation, every act of kindness and every person who supports us helps make this possible.

From all of us at St Albans Action for Homeless, thank you for helping us make houses into homes and giving people the chance to start again. 🏡

Good morning

I have a space come up for a The The Duke of Edinburgh's Award student.

It would be Friday night collecting food from different locations in St Albans and dropping it to the food run in town , it would mean a parent driving. It takes approx a hour from start to finish .

Please let me know asap if you would like to do it

Many thanks
Lynn Dutton

Saturday 10th October is , So we thought it would be a good day to tell you what we are all about.

Homelessness takes on many forms, rough sleeping is the most visible and dangerous form of homelessness. We also have the hidden homeless and people sofa surfing.

Since the pandemic homelessness has risen due to the cost of living crisis, rent increases, unfair evictions, loss of job, esculating utility bills or unexpected life events.

We need your support more than ever. We are a grassroots organisation, we start on the street by feeding and clothing our street homeless. In severe weather or illness we will pay for hotel accomodation. We also signpost them to all the services available to them locally.

We offer wrap around care when one of our homeless is housed by helping them with white goods and furniture, paying bills and food.

How can you help?

Pop along to Waitrose St Albans and pop a blue 💙 coin in to their community box by the exit.

Or grab a sock , fill it with another sock and toiletries,🍫 💋 balm or check out our page for extra details .

Or JOIN our fb group St Albans Action For Homeless (and those in need)Charity 1199670 to find out how to help (either cooking or volunteering on a Friday/Saturday evening.
