Here’s a great story from the BBC featuring the fantastic father and son team Martin and Josh Ward. The news is, they’ve been doing what they do with their RNLI hats on, for quite a while!

David Lewington was rescued by Martyn Ward at Chapel Porth beach in 1986.

St Agnes Lifeboat Station Welcomes RNLI Chief Executive, Peter Sparkes.

Peter visited the station on Wednesday afternoon, spending time with shop volunteers, and later crew, for an early evening training session. After learning first hand about the challenges of fundraising, Peter observed the launch of our D-Class Inshore Lifeboat.

After training the crew and fundraisers joined Peter for refreshments and an opportunity to talk about their experiences of volunteering.

The event was also an opportunity for the Chief Exec to recognise the long service of volunteer Helm Kit Watkins, who returned to duties with the RNLI after a short break. Also recognised was Lifeboat Press Officer, Tom Knight, for contributions to the TV series, Saving Lives At Sea.

St Agnes RNLI's D Class lifeboat was launched yesterday after a 999 call to the Coastguard reporting multiple swimmers caught in a rip off Porthtowan Beach. The casualties were reported to be calling for help. Our volunteer crew launched the lifeboat and headed for the scene but was stood down after reports that the casualties had been helped ot safety by a local surfer.

Rip tides and cold water can quickly lead to fatigue and drowning. You can find out how to stay safe here:

Rip currents are a major cause of accidental drowning all around the world and the top environmental cause of our lifeguard incidents. So what are rips, how can you spot them and - if you ever find yourself caught in one - what can you do?

It’s a beautiful day and the infernal Easterly wind is easing. If you’re heading to the beach, have a fab time. Be aware that the sea temperature is still pretty low.

As the UK finally enjoys some spring sunshine, the RNLI in Wales is urging people visiting the coast over the next few days to respect the water and remember that sea temperatures can still be dangerously cold.

St Agnes ILB launched yesterday evening after a 999 call to the HM Coastguard who requested we make a welfare check on the crew of a yacht in the Droskyn area. A member of the public made the call to emergency services because they were concerned by the vessels proximity to the rocky shore. Our volunteer D-Class crew was able to establish that the three crew members were safe and to advise them where to find safer anchorage for the night. Thanks to Arthur for the image - our fault it's a little grainy!
