Just a reminder that this Sunday (10th May) we’re meeting upstairs at the Driftwood for our pre-season briefing and AGM.
If you’re a Level 1, Level 2 or parent helper, please come along to this briefing.

If you’ve thought about getting involved in the surf club but weren’t sure how, this is your chance - join us at the AGM and find out how to get involved 🙂

Beach season will be starting soon so we’re keen to get everyone ready to go 🏄🏻‍♀️

If you’re a Nippers level 1 or level 2 coach, or a parent helper, please come along to our pre-season briefing at 6pm on 10th May (meet at the surf club).

Following on from the briefing, we’ll be holding our AGM. This is a great opportunity to find out a bit more about how the club works, and find out how you can become part of the team.

🚩Red flag Today...
Karl and Beth keeping an eye on folks in challenging conditions as part of our volunteer patrols.

We've had a busy week with club volunteers steeping up to cover every day from 10am to 5pm. Loads of advice given, and a couple of assists with tidal cut-offs and strong rips as a result of big surf being the main factors.

Can you help?
As volunteers, we all have competing priorities and we'd never want to coerce people into taking part. But if you hold your lifeguard award and are able to help , please consider doing so. Taking part in these patrols keeps your lifeguard skills sharp and when we get teams of 3+ it's great fun and we can often all get a surf! The role mainly entails talking to people, but when incidents do develop, it's incredible to be part of the team that are there to help. With a forecast of sunny weather and big pushing tides in the afternoons, Thursday 18 - Sunday 19th might be good to cover if we can.

Want to be part of this in the future?
Our lifeguard course will run on Monday evenings, 1800hrs - 2000hrs, starting 11th May.

Club volunteers Kim, Reecy and Charlie on patrol at Trevaunance Cove, looking more like summer today!
Our patrol responded to several tidal cut offs on the pushing tide yesterday, if you're heading to the beach please check the tide times. At trevaunance cove, the harbour rocks and star beach can be fully cut off by mid-tide, depending on conditions. If you see someone in difficulty 999 and ask for coastguard.

🛟Lifeguard Patrols - help make our beach a safer place this Easter

📆 Friday 3rd to Sunday 19th April 2016
📌 Trevaunance Cove, St Agnes

We’re hoping to pull together a team of volunteers to provide lifeguard cover at Trevaunance Cove over the Easter hols. If you hold your lifeguard, first responder or patrol captain qualifications then please consider joining the team.

Regardless of your experience, please let me know your availability and we'll work to ensure every team always includes experience - you won't be alone! Collectively, over 70 of us are qualified to be part of this effort. Each of us that takes part reduces the burden on the rest if we grab a shift (or two) so please check out the rota or read more at:

https://stagnessurflifesavingclub.co.uk/community-lifesaving/current-patrols/

If you have any questions at all, please drop us a message.

⚠️ With other areas of the country on holiday this week, we can expect higher numbers of visitors to our beaches. With no lifeguard service at any of our local beaches until 1 April (Perran) and 3rd April (PT and Chapel) we should all keep an eye out when at the beach, particularly for others getting cut off on the pushing tide or climbing around the rock falls.

Don't be afraid to offer advice, people may not be aware of the rips, tides and rocks you are familiar with. If you see someone in difficulty, 📞 999 and ask for the coastguard.

Well done to all the Nippers who took part in the Cornish Stillwaters!
Congratulations to Portreath for winning the Championships, a fantastic achievement!
A huge thank you to all the Officials, volunteers, clubs and coaches, and for their incredible support. None of this would be possible without you.
