REG Zoom talk is Tuesday 24 February: 7.30pm, “From 1950s box to Passivhaus: our retrofit journey.”

Alex Bienfait and Stephanie Boucher bought a 1950s brick-built detached house with oil-fired central heating. They have extended and transformed it into a comfortable home that keeps an even temperature throughout, with no conventional central heating system. They did this by radically improving the insulation and airtightness of the house to the stringent Passivhaus standards. As a result, they are the first Passivhaus retrofit to be registered in Kent....

REG Zoom talk Tuesday 27 January, 7.30pm: The Asian Hornet: An Invasive Threat

John Archer will be talking on: “The Asian Hornet: An Invasive Threat”. The presentation seeks to raise awareness of the problem of the Asian Hornet as an invasive species, their identification, invasive progress and a little more about them as a species, plus how to build a trap and report a sighting. John (and Susan) are situated in Beckley, in a rural location where we are off-grid and have been supported by REG in our efforts to provision a renewable energy scheme - We're keen to do our bit to protect the lovely environment around us, and took up beekeeping in 2016, so we have become aware of the spread and potential impact of the Asian hornet in the UK.
