πŸ’› A Huge Thank You! πŸ’›

Following a fantastic Volunteer Awards celebration today, we want to take a moment to thank every volunteer who gives their time, skills and passion to support communities across Denbighshire.

Volunteers are at the heart of so many local groups, charities and community initiatives. Their dedication, kindness and commitment make a real difference every single day, often behind the scenes and without recognition.

Today's event was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the impact volunteers have and to say a heartfelt thank you for everything they do.

To all volunteers across Denbighshire – whether you support one person, one project or an entire community – your contribution matters, and we are incredibly grateful.🌟

πŸŽ¨πŸ’š Thank you to everyone who has entered our Volunteers Week 2026 Art Contest! πŸ’šπŸŽ¨

We're delighted to share these beautiful entries from Glynis Lloyd Wallis and Karen, both volunteers at St Kentigern Hospice.

Through their artwork and personal reflections, they have captured the many ways volunteering enriches lives, builds connections, and strengthens our communities.

A huge thank you to Glynis and Karen for sharing their stories and talents as part of this year's contest. We are proud to celebrate volunteers and the difference they make every day.

πŸ’œ Volunteers' Week Spotlight: Brighter Futures πŸ’œ

✨ Thinking about volunteering? Brighter Futures has one simple message: "Go for it. You never know where that first step might lead."

This Volunteers' Week, we're shining a spotlight on the incredible volunteers at Brighter Futures and the difference they make every day in our communities.

Brighter Futures works to reduce social isolation, loneliness and poverty by providing inclusive activities and support for children, young people, families, older adults and people with disabilities.

Volunteers are at the heart of everything they do, supporting a wide range of projects including their Community CafΓ©, Men's Shed, Kidz Shed, youth activities, peer support groups, workshops, gardening projects and community events. Their time, skills and compassion help create welcoming spaces where people can connect, grow and thrive.

One inspiring volunteer story is that of Frank, who first came to Brighter Futures as a young man struggling with anxiety, low confidence and social isolation. Through the support of the organisation, Frank gradually built his confidence, developed new skills and formed lasting friendships. Today, he volunteers across several groups, delivers fitness sessions in the community and has gained multiple qualifications along the way.

His journey is a powerful reminder that volunteering doesn't just benefit organisations and communities – it can be life-changing for volunteers too.

Thank you to Brighter Futures for sharing their story and for the amazing work they do to support people across Rhyl and beyond. πŸ’œ Brighter Futures

πŸ’œ Volunteers' Week Spotlight: North Wales Women's Centre πŸ’œ

This Volunteers' Week, we're proud to shine a spotlight on the incredible work of North Wales Women's Centre and the volunteers who help make it happen.

Based in Rhyl, the Centre provides a safe, welcoming space for women across North Wales, offering support services, social activities, events and volunteering opportunities.

With a team of around 50 dedicated volunteers, the Centre relies on their time, skills and compassion to support women, run activities, raise vital funds and create a warm, friendly environment for everyone who walks through the door.

One long-standing volunteer shared:

"I volunteer at the Women's Centre because for the last 18 years it has always felt like a safe, warm and welcoming environment for me. When I'm at the Centre, it doesn't feel like volunteering – it feels like a second home surrounded by friends."

It's stories like these that remind us of the power of volunteering and the difference it makes to both individuals and communities.

Thank you to North Wales Women's Centre for sharing their story and for the fantastic work they do πŸ’œ North Wales Women's Centre.
