What a result for our area! 🙌

New research has ranked Halton NUMBER ONE out of 126 local authorities in England for family-friendly living, beating dozens of towns and cities across the country! 🥇

The study looked at factors including house prices, crime rates, access to outdoor space and school ratings.

🏡 Average semi-detached house prices of around £205,000
🌳 Access to outdoor spaces for families
🏫 School performance considered as part of the research
❤️ A huge boost for Halton and the families who call it home!

From Runcorn to Widnes, there's plenty to celebrate about our local area. 💚

Out and about in the Oxford Road area with our fantastic Labour candidate Owen Ashworth.

Great to be out speaking with residents, listening to local concerns and hearing their views on the future of our town.

🚗 Parking concerns – residents raised issues around parking on junctions, highlighting the importance of keeping our roads safe and accessible.

🏘️ Runcorn Town Centre Regeneration – it was really encouraging to hear positive feedback from residents who are pleased to see the regeneration taking shape. It’s great to see the Reconnecting Runcorn - Town Deal funding supporting viable projects and bringing visible improvements to our town.

Listening to residents and seeing positive change happen locally is what matters.

"Accessibility in Beechwood is atrocious, and residents are facing barriers that should never exist.

Broken pavements, overgrown paths, and missing dropped kerbs are making everyday journeys unsafe for people who use mobility aids, older residents, and parents with prams.

This is not acceptable for any community, especially ours. Beechwood deserves safe, accessible routes that support independence and dignity.

I will continue to raise this issue until meaningful action is taken for everyone in our ward".

📍Beechwood and Heath By-election 🌹

Out and about in Beechwood today with our Labour candidate, Owen Ashworth.

Another positive session, speaking with residents and listening to local concerns.

Today’s session also highlighted some of the real challenges faced by people with mobility issues. With Owen being a wheelchair user, we experienced first-hand the problems caused by a lack of dropped kerbs and accessible footpaths. At one point, we even had to walk in the road on Beechwood Avenue.

Accessibility should never be an afterthought. Everyone deserves to be able to get around their local community safely and independently.

Owen will be raising these concerns with the council to push for improvements.

🤫 On silent fireworks… We know this is something many people care about, and we did share our support for silent fireworks in a previous post. Unfortunately, it was too late in the planning process to make changes for this year’s event, but we appreciate everyone who has shared their thoughts.
