GETTING YOUR HOME READY FOR WINTER: REDUCING CONDENSATION AND DAMP
The colder months are definitely approaching, arent they?!
A little bit of prevention now can help to reduce mould, damp and potential damage over winter!
Here are some simple things you can do at home to reduce condensation and damp:
1: KEEP ROOMS VENTILATED
Open your windows for short periods when possible, particularly after cooking, showering or bathing. Use extractor fans and leave them running for a little while afterwards!
2: REDUCE MOISTURE
We know, sometimes putting a jumper on in the morning off a freshly warm radiator is exactly what the doctor ordered! 🥰However, this can cause a huge amount of damp in your home! If you do need to dry clothes inside, use a ventilated room and keep the door closed to prevent moisture from spreading around the house!
3: GIVE WALLS AND FURNITURE BREATHING SPACE
Where possible, avoid pushing large items of furniture tightly against external walls. A small gap can allow air to circulate and also reduce cold spots!
4: KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR MOULD!
Small areas of mould are so much easier to deal with before they spread! If you are renting and notice persistent damp, mould or leaks make sure you report the problem to your landlord or housing providor.
And remember... if you are struggling to heat your home this winter, you do not have to suffer alone! We can help with keeping your home safe and warm this winter thank you to Cadent!
