Tonight, the Cubs started off with a fun game before showing everyone their hobbies and interests. It was great to see the wide range of activities and talents our Cubs enjoy outside of Scouts!

We then headed outside and worked in groups to draw a grid reference map on the ground using chalk. The Cubs learned how to plot grid references and navigate around the map. Back inside, Jamie showed us how to read a map and use a compass, helping everyone develop some important navigation skills. 🧭🗺️

Tonight, our Beavers made Father's Day cards to go alongside the special gifts they created last week. They were so proud of their work and excited to take everything home. The smiles said it all! We can't wait to hear about the surprises when they give their cards and presents to their dads on Father's Day. 💙

🥾🗺️ The Cubs enjoyed a small hike to Town Hall Park and back, putting their navigation skills to the test along the way. They learned how to read a map, follow directions, and work together to find their route.

Once at the park, the Cubs took on the leaders and young leaders in a quick race. Despite the leaders getting a head start, the Cubs gave it their all and showed great determination! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️
To finish the evening, everyone enjoyed a wide game on the field before making their way back. A fantastic night of learning, teamwork, and outdoor adventure! 🌳😊

🎨🪨 Last night, the Beavers got creative! They designed their ideas before bringing them to life on pebbles using acrylic paints. We saw some fantastic artwork and lots of imagination on display. Afterward, everyone enjoyed taking part in a fun game together.

🏆 Beaver of the Month was awarded to George! George is an amazing Beaver who has shown fantastic progress throughout his time in the section. He is now beginning his transition to Cubs and taking the next step in his Scouting journey. A very well-deserved award – well done, George! 👏🎉

Tonight, our squirrels had a fantastic time making their very own turtle backpacks! 🐢🎒

During this creative activity, the squirrels developed a range of important skills, including:
✨ Fine motor skills through cutting, sticking, and decorating
✨ Creativity and imagination by designing their own unique backpacks
✨ Concentration and patience while following instructions and completing their project
✨ Confidence and independence by making choices and creating something they were proud of

Activities like this are important because they help children build the skills they need for everyday tasks, encourage self-expression, and support their overall development in a fun and engaging way.

Volunteers' Week Celebration 🎉

As part of Volunteers' Week, Mersey Weaver Scouts held their annual volunteer thank-you event, recognising the incredible dedication and commitment of volunteers across the district. Awards were presented, and everyone enjoyed a fantastic spread in celebration of all that our volunteers do.

We are especially proud that our Group Lead Volunteer, Pam, was awarded The Bar to the Silver Acorn - an outstanding achievement and a well-deserved recognition of her many years of service to Scouting. Pam brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and wisdom, and has dedicated so much of her life to Scouting. She is an exceptional leader who continually inspires and supports her team to achieve their best.

Congratulations also to Beaver Leader Michelle, who received her Chief Scout's Commendation for Good Service Award, along with two of our trustee members, Jayne (Chairperson) and Michelle (Fundraiser), who were also recognised for their commitment and contributions with the Cheif Scout Commendation for Good Service Award.

Everyone at 6th Runcorn has been amazing, and we have had a truly fantastic year together with an amazing team.
Well done to all our volunteers – your dedication makes such a difference. 👏💜

Every vote for 6th Runcorn counts! Winning £500 would help us provide an unforgettable adventure for our young people, building confidence, teamwork, and new experiences.

Who are Halton’s favourite Community Heroes?

Hardman Office & Commercial Cleaning ltd have been trading for 15 years this year. During this time we have felt a lot of support from the people of Halton and to show how much we appreciate this we have decided to mark our 15 years by giving something back to our community!

We want to help one of the many fantastic local organisations that provide a benefit to Halton residents, and we are asking you to vote for who you think is most deserving. We will donate £500 to whoever receives the most votes by the end of June.

The only criteria we have is that it must be a Halton based organisation that provide a benefit to Halton residents. So it could be a children’s sports club, a youth club, a social club, a mental health support group, a community group, an animal welfare group, an addiction support group, a charity, a group that supports underprivileged, disadvantaged or disabled people or basically any organisation that does some good for our local community.
