Looking to get outdoors and connect with other young carers this October Half Term? Join us at the fantastic Wonky Garden for a cozy, hands-on Forest School session!

📍 Where: The Wonky Garden

🗓 When: Thursday 29th October

✨ Who: Registered Young Carers aged 11+

What we’ll be up to:

🎨 Getting creative with nature crafts

🌿 Exploring the outdoors

🪵 Building fire skills

🔥 Toasting marshmallows over the fire (a Forest School favourite!)

It’s the perfect opportunity to spend time outdoors, meet up with other young carers, and take a well-deserved break in a relaxed environment.

🎃 Spooky Crafts, Outdoor Fun & Friendly Smiles in Widnes! 👻✨

Our Widnes MeTime Group was packed with Halloween fun this week! Our younger young carers had a blast getting crafty and making their very own spooky lanterns to light up their homes, getting active outside, and enjoying a well-earned snack together. 🎨🍎

It’s always a highlight of our fortnight watching these amazing young carers (aged 4–10) come together. Every session gives them the chance to:

🤝 Build strong friendships with other children who understand their world

🌈 Take a real break from their everyday caring responsibilities

🥳 Enjoy being kids in a safe, fun, and supportive environment

A big shout-out and thank you to Kingsway Academy for providing such a brilliant venue for our group! 🏫🙌

We had a spook-tacular time at this week’s Runcorn MeTime Group! 🎃👻✨

Our younger young carers got super creative making their own spooky lanterns to take home, burned off some energy running around outside, and, of course, squeezed in time for a yummy snack! 🎨🍎

It is so wonderful seeing our younger young carers coming along to our fortnightly group. We love watching them:

💙 Form lovely, lasting friendships

🌟 Take time for themselves away from their caring roles

🎉 Most importantly... have fun and just be kids!

A huge thank you to Hallwood Park School & Nursery for letting us use their fantastic facilities! 🙌

Sometimes all you need in a group is an old-skool youthy vibe! 🃏🎲🍕

Card games, board games, a chance to chill, and catching up with friends over pizza—and that’s exactly what we did at our Rtime get-together last week!

No speakers, no expectations, just time to unwind. With a packed house of young carers joining us, we had an absolute ball! 🎉✨

What is Rtime?
Our Rtime group is for young carers aged 11–17 years who want to:

🍕 Take a well-deserved break from their caring role

👯 Meet and hang out with other young carers who understand

🤗 Spend quality time with our friendly team in a relaxed space

What a busy and rewarding quarter it’s been at Halton Carers Centre! 🌟

Between July and September, our team has been working hard behind the scenes and out in the community to support carers across Halton. Over the last three months, we’ve been:

✨ Registering new carers

✨ Reviewing support for existing carers

✨ Facilitating regular Carers Groups

✨ Hosting trips, outings & fun activities

✨ Booking relaxing therapy sessions & professional counselling

✨ Allocating Carers Cards and providing 1-to-1 support
..alongside all the other fantastic services we provide daily! It’s definitely been a whirlwind quarter, and things aren’t slowing down anytime soon! 💙

None of this would be possible without our dedicated, passionate staff team and amazing volunteers. We also want to send a huge thank you to everyone who recommends our service and to all the partner organisations who regularly refer carers to us—your support makes a world of difference!

We are heading to Farmaggedon on Thursday 29th October for an evening of jump scares, big laughs, and the rare chance to see our Young Carers team looking slightly terrified! 😱🧟‍♂️

Are you a young carer? We want to see YOUR ideas, YOUR style and YOUR creativity! 🌟

We’re creating a brand-new, relaxing and welcoming space at Halton Carers Centre, and we’d love young carers to help make it special. 💜

🖼️ WHAT’S THE COMPETITION?

Young carers are invited to design 3 pictures to be framed and displayed in our office!

✨ Be creative!
🌈 Have fun!
💚 Make a difference!

You can use any medium — drawing, painting, collage, digital art or mixed media.

Your artwork should be positive, uplifting and reflect what makes young carers special. There are no limits to your creativity! 🎨

🏆 WHAT COULD YOU WIN?

One winner will be chosen for each picture, and your artwork will be framed and proudly displayed in the young carers’ space!

📩 HOW TO ENTER

1. Think, create and design — solo or as a group!
2. Send us your 3 pictures (one detail sheet).

Raising awareness of Young Carers across Adult Social Care!

Our Young Carers Worker, Ash, recently attended Halton Borough Council Adult Social Care Development Event, bringing along our Young Carers information stand.

It was a fantastic opportunity to network with Adult Social Care teams, share information about our Young Carers Service, and highlight the important role ASC professionals can play in identifying young carers and young adult carers.

When supporting adults in Halton, it’s important to consider whether there are children or young adults within the household who may be providing care or support to a parent, sibling, or another family member.

By identifying young carers early, we can help make sure they have access to the right support, information and opportunities.

Our referral pathway is quick and easy, making it simple for professionals to refer a young carer into our service. 🙌

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with Ash and learn more about how we can support young carers across Halton! 💙
